Very hot R32 Vspec. With Carbon Fibre Bonnet around the Cabra area. Lucky bastard.

At the lights we lined up.Once the lights turned green we both took off like a sling shot.

On First gear he was pulling hard on me by 6 car lengths. By then I knew I couldnt catch him running in my Adidas Climacool so I slowed the pace down and jogged again. :D

VISHES - welcome to the forum man. I sort of met you on Sunday on the gong cruise. I was driving the Silver 33 GTR. I reckon your S15 is one of the best looking ones around. I like things that aren't overly modified and yours looks nice..... (plus nice weight reduction frm the seats).... I was damn surprised how hard your car pulled at the lights...

what was yer name again?

anyway see ya around

Yang

btw: how much weight did u save from the back seats?

Hey Yang! the name is Linus :) thanks for the compliment. i've riced up the car now..next on my list is the engine mods

man i surprised myself when i was neck to neck with you!!! i expected ur GTR 2 chop me in half.....i dont think i've reduced much weight from ripping the rear seats and rear trimmings...the most i've saved is around 40kg....plus im pretty light..so there is my advantage.....not many people believe me when i say its running standard boost with airfilter and full exhaust :)

LINUS - yeh I was talking to [Ken] (in the silver Supra) about it and we thought you were running more boost. Your filter and exhaust must enable you to run maybe 1-2 psi higher than standard which can often happen.

I need to get rid of some weight haha.. R33 GTR's are heavy... might consider doing your style of weight reduction :)

147@wheels is very respectable for the number of mods you have. I'm planning to get rid of my sub and get a lightweight one. I'll probably leave the seats in and unbolt them when I go for track days, drags etc....

It's easy enuf to increase power in a GTR so I'll probably jsut do that haha... my last dyno run was 150kw@all 4 wheels at C&V which is the same kind of dyno as Croydon. But that was with just an exhaust.....

lets go for a cruise soon!!

    • From the pictures I have when doing the job the flywheel is the same diameter, I don't think they're playing weird tricks like putting weights at the outer diameter to increase flywheel inertia or anything like that. The OEM flywheel is definitely heavier, but it's not a huge difference. Quoted weight savings of the clutch is 2 kg so I can't imagine the flywheel being lighter than ~7 kg. Kind of regret not weighing it before the clutch went into the car but as far as driveability goes I have no complaints.
    • HKS trigger kit should be very easy to integrate with a Link. It's a 36-2 crank trigger. Hard part is finding the motivation to take off the timing belt and everything on the front of the engine to install it. You also need to cut out a hole in the oil pump housing so the sensor can read the trigger wheel. Changing out the cam sensor for a 24 tooth setup is probably good enough but as others have mentioned depending on what underlying assumptions are changed it becomes more of a problem. Reading the crank state off of the cam is an abstraction that works in the general case, but if you have an edge case it makes less and less sense. There is a GTX2860 gen 2 that can take a compact 5 bolt housing so it's direct bolt on but I'm not 100% sure of what's involved. Peak compressor efficiency drops off a bit on these turbos vs -5s, 77% vs 73% but you get way, way wider region of operation. The -5s have a really strange surge line in their compressor map that is all over the place. If you think the hot side on the -5s aren't open enough you can try the Tomei T550B turbos which a local tuner seems to be happy with:
