Oh man... reading this only makes me want to convert my R32 GTS-t. :D

What exactly do you need part-wise to do a complete conversion? I've simply assumed that you need the R33 RB25DET, ECU, loom, R33 gearbox, center shaft, rear diff? Is there anything else I'm missing?

Also, since the RB25DET is slightly taller than a RB20DET on the standard mounts, is it simply easier (or better) to leave the mounts as they are or to modify them to get the engine to sit lower?

I've stuck a Stagea RB25DET in my R32 GTS4, and the lowdown torque is just phenomenal. The only other option for a GTS4 is a RB26DETT, but they are expensive. You can get a Stagea halfcut for around $4k, I believe.

The engine slots straight in, and I'm still using the standard drive train. With aftermarket ECU (Wolf 3D), it cranks 180 kw @ ALL FOUR WHEELS on 10psi and crap 95 octane.

I just got my RB25DET (series 2) and I was hoping you could help me with some questions.

My Skyline is non turbo so it will be a big step with the RB25.

Now then, my first question is about the gearbox mounts, I hear they aren't the same and I will also have problems with the speedo meter. What do you know about this? Can I use the Xmember of the R33 ??

The second is about the harness, everyone that has ever swapped an engine told me that the harness is the most difficult part of the swap. Do you have the diagram of the R32 and the R33 (still can't find it for the R32) and some pointers on how this is done??

Hope to get a reply from you soon

Hi every1, I have done a RB25DE Conversion to my R32 GTST Due to the P Plate Laws. Im having Trouble with 1 Plug, I Used the RB25de Loom bu used the RB20 Fuse Box, There are 2 Plugs on the RB25de infront of the intake manifold, 1 of them are suppose to plug into the R33 Fuse box, it Supplies the Computer with power (To my nderstandig anyway), Now on the R32 Fuse Box i dont have this plug, Wat the best way to go about this? Cheers Guys

    • I can see between the water jacket and cyl 3 there wasn't a hard line of combustion gas. It certainly appears that the issue is coming from there. Yes, checked the tension. All at 100ft lbs where I set them 5 years ago. These blocks can crack but generally when they have been over bored. Mine is only 0.5mm oversize at 89.5mm. They break between cylinders around the 91mm mark. No sign of that with mine. My gut feeling is the head gasket lifted a while back when the studs stretched and i bandaided it by retorquing the studs. It's finally let go.
    • My Nismo 1.5 churps a bit on reverse turns when cold, but besides that feels like a stock diff.
    • Yes, but, I paid cash and I'm pretty sure the receipt was in the bin 10 minutes after I got home Note to self, keep all receipts
    • Bunnings would have just handed you your money back on that one!
    • So, version 4 intake is on its way I was looking at these a while ago but at around $200 or more it was a little pricey for something that might not work, but, I had it in my watch list, but, I got a message saying it was on special, and I had a code thingie to use, it eventually came in at $120 delivered, so BAM, BUY NOW.....LOL I'll need to have a look when it arrives but I feel it will "look" better than what I currently have, as it comes with a PCV fitting, so I will be able to get rid of the alloy pipe that goes to the throttle body with the PCV fitting  Well, that's what the voices in my head are telling me  Oh, and this happened today Yeap, it was a Trojan, and it was cheap, so I headed back to the hardware store and actually spent a little bit more on a heavy duty,  one that was actually recommended by a plumber mate, a Cyclone one with a fibreglass handle that is actually rated for clay The broken shovel will eventually be "modified" into a short handle shovel
