saying someone from the police force has reported my car as being to loud.

I have a full 3inch exhaust with a hi flow cat and apexi muffler with 5" tip

compared to alot of other cars I've never really thought my car was loud, so I've got my car booked in for a noise test in the morning. Praying I will come in under 90db.

Has anyone else been reported?

Did you find your exhaust was too loud?

At what rpm was the test done at?

but basically I bet I get :Owned: and come in over 90db tomorrow

i got my 1st letter from the epa when my car had the complete stock exhaust still on the car.. said the same thing about a police officer has reported my car as being too loud.. when i went to get it tested they didnt even bother setting up the mic.. they still made me pay for it tho :D..

if you need to borrow a stock exhaust just pm.. im from mentone

update. I went to place today to get noise test. Said at current level it would pass easy but he won't test it as he things I have a restrictor somewhere reduring airflow.

Said he will only test it if I allow him to check echaust first (no cost if he doesn't find a restrictor and $45 bucks if he does) I aggreed as I just got front pipe and hiflow cat put on a few months back and don't believe they added a restrictor to quiten it down (by restrictor he said he meant a full piece of metal with a few holes cut in it somewhere between front pipe and cat to reduce airflow)

will update on saturday morning.

Thats absolutely absurd!

It doesn't matter if you have a restrictor or not, the epa guy should take it at face value if your exhaust is quiet or not. Otherwise that would be like saying "oh im sure you have a louder exhaust at home, so im not gonna check it till you put that one on".

It should be irrelevant how the exhaust is made quiet as long as it passes the noise test.

my 2c.

if someone here is in victoria and can lend me a stock R32 exhaust mid december, I would be very grateful!!!!!!

please pm me if you can

I have an R32 skyline i will be importing and I have to get it registered, it is my guess the exhaust will be too loud (it looks phat-as in the photos)

get it tested somewhere else... this guys a retard.

...does actually matter.. by the book you're technically not allowed to have any artificial restrictors, or devices in the exhaust. Well that is what another place told me as well.

so he was just doing his job.. but take it somewhere else :D

I had two EPA notices for exhaust on my last car and each time I got it tested it came back fine. But I ended up changing to a stock exhaust, because I got sick of the p_gs that had nothing better to do than report people with exhausts they thought were too 'loud'.

once its been reported and tested with that exhaust u dont have to go again...

they draw the setup and u should also be able to get them to rite the brand on it. Otherwise u should be taking them to court to recoupe ur loses

Hmmm, that's what I thought, other people told me this too. I guess I just thought it easier to do what I did... I hate getting hassled over my car :D

When i had my epa test last year and passed, i asked the epa guy what if a cop reports me again and i have to come here and its all ok, and i wasent gonna take another day off work (insert sob story crap :D) again just coz some cop 'thinks' its to loud. He said the cops would have to send it factual proof before another test was required.

If you get another letter from the epa i would write to them asking for the twats details that reported you coz you will be taking them to court coz you have already passed a test previously!!
