It's time to buy the wastegate for the GT35R, the motor's a RB30DET using a power fc and boost controller.

The GT35R has a 0.82 exh, it's rated at 700 hp.

I'm using a high mount SS exh manifold suited for an external wastegate.

WIll the 38mm gate be ok or should I be using a 45mm one? :boinkcar:

Need to know a few more things before I can work out the wastegate size;

Is the engine capable of handling 700 bhp?

What boost level are you intending to run?

Will the engine handle that level of boost?

Engine hasn't been built yet but will be built to handle over 600hp.

Boost level would be no more than 25 psi, that's if it needs to go that high to achieve the power.

The engine is being built to withstand the psi and hp.

The bottom end will have forgies and after market rods, oringed block etc...

Hi Alf, sounds good, I will assume the turbo can be fully utilised;

700bhp / 11 X 19 / 25 = 48 mm

Hope that helps :P

Yes that helps alot Sydneykid, and thanks alot for your help.

The people who I have asked about this have suggested a turbosmart 45mm wastegate. So i guess there recommendations are very close to yours.

My exhaust manifold has 38mm piping for the wastegate, will this need to be replaced with 45/48mm piping?

Does anyone make a 48mm wastegate?

Thanks again. :wavey:

Tial make 46 mm and 50 mm, HKS have 3 types of 50mm, Greddy have 2 types of 47 mm, Garrett have 46 mm and a few more that I can't remember.;)

Yes turbosmart's new pro-gate wastegates are now 48mm they use to be 45mm.

has anyone actually measured the valve area?

I think they are still 45mm, not 48. Going by what i saw.

But then, it might have been the old gate, in the new box :confused:
