apparently they have allocated points associated with certain mods eg. 50 points for a/m zorst, 100 points for a/m rims and sh1t like that...not sure wat the maximum number of points allowable is tho...heh....who cares

im also 25yo and with suncorp and have a gtst r32...i think u did get a mong tard :P

Hrmm.. my previous insurance was.. Just Cars.. R34 Gtt, with minor mods 1515 for a year. Tho I was listed as Rating 1 with no previous accident history and no fines, blah blah blah. So I was pretty happy at the time

Another company you can try is http://www.vigilins.com.au/ I'm not sure how good they are as I only found out about them recently. So no harm for you to try if you havent already done so. :D

Whats the best insurance people have found?

i had suncorp lined up about 9 mths ago they said i had to wait untill i was 25 and then they would insure me for a turbo import (skyline Gts-t 33) for $1000 bargin!!

now im about to get the car i ring up to make sure they will do it and the tell me sorry we only insure the r33 GT, GTS and GTR,  no gts-t, WTF!!!! :werd:  AND they tell me the skyline GTR is a non turbo!!

I asured them that the GTR is Twin Turbo so why cant they insure a single turbo

Wanker at Suncorp: "Sorry i can only insure whats on my screen and the Gts-t is not there"

So i have called just cars and they want $1200 and no pay by the month

Anyone have better insurance company?

Hey,

i've got a 93 gts t, 92 sourer insurered with shannons insurance for well under a 1000 bucks. around 600. mide u ive had another car with them for about 5 years and i'm 29 but over the years they've been really good. Shannons insure people over 25 with everything from hot rods, street machines, vintage, show cars, race cars. u name it

worth a look

Well I had been following this thread for a bit and thought I could not afford full comp, silly me.

I was with just cars for full comp but couldnt afford it this year so dropped back to fire and theft, now in the past couple days saw this thread and started actually calling up places and getting quotes, this and read that the theft is only covered up to and including $5000 with just cars, WTF!?!?!?

Anyway now happily with Suncorp, pay by the month, market value for damage and theft, although i didnt go the $300 more for the windscreen and car hire thing.

Thanks people! :D

  • 3 weeks later...

So i ring suncorp back 4 more times and they still tell me sorry we will insure your for a Skyline GT, GTS and a GTR but no GTS-T

Im just about to go looking for a skyline anytime now and im pretty pissed off that they wont insure me ( refer to the first thread )

I thought i'll try 1 more time and im not hanging up till they insure me! ( as lot of you guys said you have insurance with suncorp)

Just got of the phone 15mins ago with a quote number and 2 Authorisations from the guy on the phone and his boss to insure a skyline GTS-T with a few mods for a touch over $1000 ($1058) and its pay by the month :headspin:

Thanks too ya all for the info and the help :)

    • You’ll want to have the block drilled and tapped to suit 1/2in head studs and the head for the same. How much power do you intend to make?
    • Sorry for resurrecting an oldish thread Not much has happened in the past year since the last update. The car did another 1000 miles or so and failed the MOT for the first time in October (failed on tyres which had been advised for a couple of years) In October the car got put up for sale and was removed in November due to no interest, being so close to christmas it was to be expected. The roads were dry in February so I decided to tax it early and get the new tyres fitted.   Fast forward to April, I got someone in to give the car a good clean after sitting for the winter.                                 The car got re-advertised and today (Saturday 3rd May) the car sold. The new owner is planning a GTR conversion at some point and a respray in the same pearl white. It's bitter sweet, it's a shame to have the car sit there for half the year and then only do 1000 miles. The kids are growing too quick and space in the back is getting limited. It's been a great 6.5 years of ownership
    • And if you want more power, more reliably, and cheaper, go get the Aussie RB... The 4L Barra and put that in instead.
    • No cats will keep discolouring the rear bar. Sends white paint a weird yellow stain. Cut and polish normally gets it out, but you'll be doing that every fortnight I found.
    • Both heads will be equally reliable or unreliable depending on what you do to them.  Stock the RB26 head will flow more. You have access to the stock intake ITB manifold on the RB26 cheaply which flows really well(1000hp+).   Arguably more aftermarket support for RB26, though in Aus we love our RB30 SOHC heads too.    The only downsides to the RB26 head is if you have a VL commodore and want to keep the SOHC look.  Where you may have an issue is drilling out the rb30 block for the bigger head studs but if you are building a big power motor you'd probably put bigger studs on the SOHC head too.  This is just about finding a good machine shop, sometimes easier said than done.  RB30 head worked can make big power just like a Rb26 head, so really it actually more comes down to what your preference is for your car.  People now even making billet versions of both.
