yeap it does... b4 I go further I am no insurance company so what I am saying is just common sense and the experience with insurance company

anyway if yourself nominate 80% asa driver and 20% as your girl Friend or your pet elephant :P then insurace company will calculate the cost of claim according to the nominated percentages... so it's loose loose situation.

Man insurance companies are theives you know that but IN CASE SHIT HAPPENDS you have to put up with it!

and always read the fine PRINT!!

cheers

Joe:uh-huh:

Im with Western QBE who will only do imports if you have current business with them. Ideal thing to do is ring up and get some contents insurance for your house or sumthin. Then call up 2 weeks later saying you want a policy for your Skyline. Bingo, done.

I had my old Pulsar with them anyway and their ruling is you must have "2 concurrent policies running at the same time". However ive been told that you can cancel the other policy immediately if you wish and you will still be offered a renewal next year.

Insurance is a highly competitive market, they never like losing business.

I pay 1300 a year with a very bad record on my name, ive had 2 accidents (1 major) and been charged with Driving without Due Care. Next year it drops to 900 which is even more reasonable.

However they have NO idea what an R32 GTST is... they dont even have a market value or any info in the system for the 2 litre turbo model. Guy tried to tell me it didnt exsist!

For those looking for insurance and you are over 25 then try Steve Walter at Torque Insurance (part of Lumley Insurance).

They only insure 25yo or more, good driving record, car not parked at "on street" parking and some other exlusions.

I have insured a 96 Spec II Skyline at $830pa on a full no claim bonus.

steve

no, i didnt talk to anyone in particular ...

i cant remember their name, but im pretty sure they cover imports

i had both my skyline's under them and my sister also has her fto with them

try talk to another one of the person there ... dont know how that would help :D

but something is not going right haha :)

Wow!!! Other people with Famous? I am going to go with them - how are they?

P.S. Robyn from Famous told me the excesses were (for an R33 GTS-T):

$500 excess

$500 age (UNDER 21 - NOT 25)

$500 theft

But I got quoted 20yo 20% GTS-T ($26.5k value) $3290. You reckon when I get to 30% they'll give me $2400? Or you think I should query about a cheaper price?

hey timmyg.....ure lucky man

im paying 3600 a year and my excess:

age (under 21) - $1000

excess -  $1000

theft - $1000

ive never claimed before so i have no idea how reliable they are.

I'm 18 next Saturday and I rang up for a quote on a 96 n/a manual GTS and I got quoted 'around 3 and a half thousand', no idea about excess though but that sounds pretty ****ing outrageous, have an accident after a year and you have just cost yourself almost 1/3 of the car's value.

tell me about it man....my guess is that famous classic car insurance will make money off clients that move over from RAC etc...so now they'll be one of the few firms that will actually insure imports

is there a body that regulates the prices of premiums?

I checked out the premium of a GTS (n/a). Truth be told, I didn't shop around as much as I did for the premiums for a GTS-T, but I found that the price diff between a GTS and GTS-T was worth the extra.

But yeah, you're already paying through the teeth for a Skyline in the first place. The small insurance differences and the larger performance differences were the reason why I decided to just go the whole hog and get a turbo.

Cheers,

Tim

HBF don't insure imports

I was with them for 4 years and when i got my 'line they gave me the big f*$koffski. I'm with RAC now paying $1.3K on the same 96 series II Stritch9ine got a quote for :-) for 21yo.

HBF do insure imports, my mate just got his silvia insured with them.

Rob

Just to make some of you cry, I got a quote today from SGIO for an R32 GTR insured for $40,000. I'm 27, 60%NCB, never had an accident, never claimed anything and they quoted me $1,344.00 per year....

Well actually I went through Statewest credit society and they rang around and got the quote for me, also gave me a 15% discount because I'm a member....

Brett

rac aren't taking new polices as u know.

if your with rac, famous will match your current rac price otherwise they are about the price as sgio.

sgio still cover imports well they do if your 25.

hbf want you to be 29 or older, shannons and a couple of others want you to 30.

Brett that quote on GTR is pretty good actually.

For Perth, have you tried Torque insurance?

im 30, insured R33 turbo for 20K with 60% NCB for $831, includes stuff like free windscreen per year, automatic no claim bonus protection, support and insure modifications etc..

I guess the quality of an insurance company is determined when you make a claim though :P
