Poor 32. Lucky it broke down where we were. Otherwise I think we could have been in the shit :P

Thanks HEAPS to Melv for coming and rescuing us! :hugs:

And thanks HEAPS to Mick for following us home to make sure that we made it :(

hahahahahaha yeah melv had just a little prob finding us lol

Ah I Can See You Just Can't Get To You lmao :looney: round & round we go that place was a maze :spcartman

no probs erin any time  I know any of the gys would do the same for me :grouphug:

just a quick update.. turns out to be loose wiring, so thats easy fix.. now just need to wait for ecu tuning. :P

oh and honda city is cool! bring on the city turbo I say! :D

hahahaha there is a soft top turbo up the coast for sale 85 modle for 6k :looney:

that would be cool but thats just a crazy price :bonk: little 1000 lt rocks :(

I know why my car is so fuely ... Well, even more fuely and gutless than normal :(

Alternator is shagged. 12v maximum during running, and 11.buggerall volts once you turn lights on.

If you just turn the lights on, the voltage drops from 12.buggerall to 10.something fairly quickly... Is that a battery problem? Or is the battery only partially charged cause the alternator isnt doing anything? Even with revs (2500-3000rpm) it wont charge the battery at all, just holds a constant 12.3'ish volts.

Piece of crap. I'm with will :P Gimme the little buzzbox back :D

Glad to hear it's only something small Will.

I might ring Gav and ask him why he didn't answer my phone call at 11pm last night.

LoL, other than the sleep thing and all :(

Good to hear it was only a loose wire tho. I think, does that mean your not stripping it anymore? :P

if the alternator belt isn't slipping or overtightening, and measured idle voltage at alternator/battery not showing 13+ volts then alternator is gooooooonnnnnnneeeeeee. :(

dave you can still strip my ful sik subwoofa tape deck?! :(

hmm so does that mean next time I got pick up my pos 32 it'll sport a sohc head with a ded commie battery and sits on bricks? :D:( godamn bogans! :P

RB26ETT for Willis :D

Who needs to D(ouble overhead cams)?

Hmm... RB26 head on RB30 block....

Oh well, I'm sorta glad there is something fairly big wrong in a way... It makes a good excuse for the lousy performance and huge amounts of fuel smoke :D "Oh yeah mate, normally I got 800hp but damn alternator was shagged so I only had 100hp" :P

Now I'm not a mechanic... (Unlike some :S ) But I'm gunna disagree on this one...

Cause... The spark doesn't burn the fuel... The spark starts the fuel burning (I thought) and then the flame front ignites the rest of the charge...

So, tiny spark may not be perfect, but it will either ignite, or miss... Not just burn some of the fuel and spit the rest out...

Also, with low voltage, the injectors wouldn't be opening up as much anyway, so there would be less fuel than usual... (depending on ECU (the car does have EFI doesn't it Andrew ))

I'm guessing timing and / or fuel pressure and / or tune...

/awaits proof of my stupidity...

Now I'm not a mechanic... (Unlike some :S ) But I'm gunna disagree on this one...

Dunno the technical side of it, but with Brutis2, when the alternator died and started giving low voltage he would run REAL fuely.

Then as the voltage dropped lower, he would misfire. Finally, car died totally.

Either way, the alternator is shagged. 12.2v at big rpm in neutral with no lights etc on isnt right. And 11.7v with the lights on also isnt right

firstly strutto...low voltage can do weird things to the way a computer runs.

secondly a injector doesnt need to have a full 14.4 volts to operate properly

thirdly poor spark and overfueling ......well the fuel just extinguiishes the flame....cause the.....well it just does , hence the misfiring and such.

fourthly i think andrew will find that if he turn all accessories off the car will run better(cause of the low volt deal)

    • OK, solid mount Z1 diff brace is in, pretty straightforward, it picks up 3 diff hat bolts and ties them to 2 support bolts on the subframe. Pretty sure someone else on here said they had reduced axle tramp with this but mine was already pretty good for smooth wheelspin, and still is....will see you this goes over time and whether I end up with a broken rear diff hat
    • Ah yes, but the part in my hand was actually painted and fitted by me! I knew any front lip was likely to be sacrificial but I've had to fix it twice already... by the time I buy a fibreglass fixing kit, sort out sandpaper blocks, buy some fibreglass filler, body bog, spend the time and effort for a 'Greg' result... a new one being $290 seems like it's the better way to go and spray that with bedliner/raptor coat and we're all pretty again.. Would have preferred it last more than a month though. Them's the breaks I suppose.
    • I find it funny that the USA is finding out all this really really weird stuff, and people from the USA are coming here treating it like gospel, yet, all the info on solving those issues is here on these forums for the last 15 odd years... Also, I know how much heat it takes to ignite the hood lining of an R33 skyline. I worked it out myself... It also took a LOT of time, and heat for it to do it... Big single, and I needed to drive the car, so retarded the timing off to "protect it". Yeah, that was a bad move for cruising on a freeway with only 15 degrees of timing on it. That was a lesson I learned around 2009. So that's over 15 odd years ago. Aligning water and oil, that's identical for any turbo engine, it's not Japanese specific. If a shop doesn't know how to make sure the core is rotated the right way, then they shouldn't be touching any turbo engine. That's not a matter of "We haven't had Skylines for that long here"...
    • Sounds like it is rotational in the driveline. CV? Tailshaft CB? Also.....didn't you just pay to have that bit painted and put on the car?
    • Yeah, when I dialled my idle down, given how much time I spent idling at the lights in traffic on my daily commute, the effect on overall fuel consumption was absolutely noticeable.
