Hi all,

Driving back from work at 6:30am, up the freeway towards the city...

Through the roadworks i was 'apparently' going 110 km/h which had just gone down to the 60 zone...

Basically I'm ****ed

I'm on my P plates and driving my crappy '71 beetle. The cop comes up behind me on his bike with lights flashing... pulls me over and tells me the great news...

Is there anything I can do? He has no evidence over than his word that he kept up with me and recorded the speed limit present.

I don't even think my car can go that fast. the speedo's in miles an hour.

Is there anything I can do? I have 2 jobs, and have/will spent around $10k on my datsun 240z in the very near future.. putting the rb20det into it.

I can't imagine spending this much money and not being able to drive it.. life is ****ed atm.

any advice ??

thanks guys,

Sean

shit dude, that is ****ed :P im pretty sure you will be able to find it, im not too sure about the laws etc but i had a friend who was speeding but did not get clocked by the police, i think couldnt do anything about.

like bam said, fight it in court on the fine there should be apart about fighting it in court

May be worth seeking legal advice...

especially if your car can't even do 110km/h, or if it takes 1km to get up to 110/h and you only have 500 meters you can prove it that way etc... i think INASNT got his sentences halfed with some arguments like that

My understanding is that they have evidence of your speed,,,, eg the speed shown on the radar gun at the time or on a multinova....... there should be a phone number you can call...

well thats one point 2nd is what ferni said, find out how long it would get to that speed etc then show evidence of that..... the more evidence you can muste up against the cop he better.

PVA GLUE went to court a while ago.... and kicked their asses!!! maybe some advice from him could give you a world of difference...

He has no evidence.. i asked him about it.. and he told me that 'my speedo gets tested every 6 weeks to make sure it's accurate.. bla bla.. then i follow at the same speed as you... i also touch men' he could've made anything up!

My speedo's in milage for ****s sake... this is the worst ****en day. scuse the language just yeh :goddam:

Yeah i might find out what I can do... I really cant' afford to lose my license. GOing to uni next year is going to be ****** without a car.

calm down mate, its not end of the world :)

before you thinking of going to court over it, I suggest that you work it out HOW MUCH its worth to you.

*pay the fine and cop it sweet* or Fight for at least 8 month (if you can go longer... they will dragg all the way.

before I say more I'll say cop it sweet.

ok, what did you get charged?

1.what fine say?

2.and how is your previouse driving records?

3.What was road condition

4.Was the road works going on when you allegely doing 110kmph

5.Do you have police badge number? or name? (should be on the ticket)

6.well you have at least 30 days before you make payment & decision so I'll say do soem research on the web Traffic act...etc.

DO SEARCH ON SPEEDING

for all that and if you loose in court. It becomes criminal record and will follow you like little dark cloud, every police check etc..etc

Good luck mate, and truse me it will be alright and if you do study hard enough you will find that, under what section police can charge you because you dont have enough water in your window wash tank :) yeap its true! :D

ok 1. didn't get a fine or anything.. i have to go to court, cos of the speed i was going.

2. driving record bad... dd last year, couple of minor offences, lost mayb 3 points?

3. good clear road conditions

4. no road works were going on at all.. sunday morning at 6:45.. its stupid!!!

5. don't have either cos he didn't give me anything. just told me what was going to happen

6. i've got between 10-12 weeks before I go to caught. apparently, we'll see

7. this sucks so much balls

you will receive summons.....to go to court....

Advice: get up there and say sorry, beg for your life, explain the situation perfectly, tell them your a stupid fck and he will go lighter on you if your lucky....

i avoided the court apperance when i got done doing alot over the limit.... (41+ over the limit is dangerous driving)

i got done by a camera so i had to fill out this big fkin form admitting it was me yah yah yah yah.....and it asked all these questions, basically i said that it was the fkin dumbest thing i have done and i am an idiot and i have and upgraded car for speed blah blah blah... anyway

more advice...

seek legal help mate....it will cst you 100 bucks or 50 bucks or something like that but they will tell you where you stand....

to be honest we all really cant help you as much as a lawyer can...they will tell you what your chances are of what....

BUT wait for your summons because until then....you dont know what you are being charged with....

my 2 best mates went to court getting charged with dangerous and 1 got let off with just a 350 buck fine....and the other only lost his licence for 3 months....because he was a P plater at the time....

ultimately, be nice to the judge, say your an idiot....and say sorry....

go watch some court things if you want, most people say "the cop was a ****in idiot lah lah lah" and the judge goes "well you havent learnt from this....im taking your licence for a year....next please..." :D

say sorry, good luck mate....

i dont have a licence at the moment and its not as bad as it seems....

you will probably just get youir car finished faster because you will have more time at home :) its relaxing...and you drink more tho hehehe

the worst thing against you is the dd charge and p plates....because they will think your a slow learner :) gl mate

I believe that the cop has to have been following you for a certain distance within the speed zone (i.e distance of 5km, not exactly sure how long) at the same speed as you in order to prove the speed you were going (i hope that makes sense). If he doesnt have a radar reading to go on (which he wont because he was on a m/bike) then you could argue that he was not following you for a long enough distance to gain an accurate speed reading. Also that speed change from 100-60 is only a short distance were the road works are, go measure it out with your speedo, you could argue that it is too short a distance to have gained the correct speed, considering he would have to have sped up to catch you this could also create some inaccuracies. Also argue that cos your speedo is in mph you it made it difficult to calculate the exact speed you were travelling and there where no other cars to judge ur speed. Also mention there being no other cars nearby and no-one working on the roadworks.

It was also a single policeman so you only have the one witness. If he gave you no fine and nothing to prove the speed you were travelling at then where is his proof this took place? Surely you should get a ticket, listing badge number, speed etc. What offence did he charge you with?

Deny everything.

They dont have to give you the ticket on the spot (this happens alot with motorcycle cops as they dont have the equipment on the bike to check your details etc like they do in a car)

What will happen is they will call you to the station for an interview and then they will charge you. If i was you when i went to the station i would listen to what they are saying and dont get arguementive with them. Give them an impression you are a "nice young man" and any lose of licence will serverely effect your future career etc etc. Wear some nice threads and be on time and very polite.

Then they may reduce the charge. Least they didnt Hoon law you.

thanks alot guys...lot of useful info

Yeah I still can't believe its happened, all I wanted to do was get home so i could get some ****en sleep.

There was no way he was behind me for 5kms, no way.. maybe 1 km??

tomorrow morning after work i'm going to check the distance from the 100-60 zone.

Couldn't handle losing my license for 3 months... if it's anymore than that i dunno what i'm going to do.

Also just wondering, am I allowed to take my car down to the track w/ out a license?? barbagallo's or something like that? also the strip.

Cheers guys,

Sean

man about 9 months ago a cop in scarbs pulled me over in my '85 blubird and ripped me outta my car pushed me to the bonnet of my car and told me i was under arrest, when asked wat charge he said dangerous driving, when i asked what i did, apparently i was "drifting" my car around corners. etc etc. firends of mine who were in my car and the car behind me where stumptd, (this was just after that cop got hit and run on his bike) well to cut a long story short he didnt put me in lok up, and let me go, sayn that a summons was on hte way. to this day i have heard NOTHING of it. now he may be pullin ur leg but i would still go and get legal advice coz if they DO take u to court, u will need all the help u can get coz a cops word is LAW (pretty much)

If you have to go to court and get busted you will probably loose your license for 6 months at least.

DD charge, p plater etc, doesnt look good. Especially in such a short amount of time.

If you HONESTLY werent speeding then fight it, but only two people know the truth i guess. If you were, accept responsibility. If you werent, get a lawyer!!

Yoy license will actually be cancelled because your on your p's and you will have to go thruough the process again....

Im about to lose my license for 3 months if anything im looking forward to it ...... im going to save shitloads of money and car comes off the road to make it faster and I comeback with 12 shiny new points. I just ran out of demerit points.

Ive been pulled over before doing a ridiculous speed in a 60 zone ..... cops didnt have my speed so they just shouted at me being a hoon etc ..... yeah whatever they shouldnt of tried to tailgate me ..... and after their whinge - they got in their car n drove off ..... didnt have anything to pin to me.

shit hey...

Well, yeah i was hoping 3 months cos they are both separate crimes, like dd and speeding are different sections of the law.. maybe i'm wrong.. I hope not !

docile... do I have to do my hours again?? or is it just the tests.

ahhh i havn't even got my car finished yet and i won't be able to drive it... this is so ****ed up

    • Howdy friends, So another weird one today, I was looking into replacing some broken clips holding the front grille for the R32 GTR (part number 01553-03831), and noticed the brackets which are supposed to hold the grille in place were also missing 😑. I do recall seeing this issue many years ago, but didn't fix it at the time. A quick look on eBay and I was able to find the genuine brackets, along with all the screws which suited the headlights (part numbers 26042-08U05,26092-08U05). Happy days!....  Once they arrived however there was an extra nut in the packaging which implied that there should also be a bolt or a stud, and sure enough, after a bit of searching I found this thread from 2013, and @Ants clearly shows a stud should be present. Reading around a bit more, it's possible the headlights on my car are the "povo pack" headlights as mentioned by @funkymonkey in this thread way back in 2008. This could explain why the studs are missing on my set of headlights. Looking at the headlight diagram I wasn't able to see a suitable part number for the stud itself. The headlight did indeed have a recess that looked like it would accept a stud, but interestingly no thread or anything obvious how the stud would be affixed to the headlight, I suspect it may have been glued in, press fit, or melted into the plastic at the factory. Another member may be able to clarify if they happen to have a genuine set of N1 headlamps. The only thing we have to work with within the recess is a keyway which likely is there to prevent the stud from rotating within the recess. In any case, back to 3D printing, I put together a model which acts like a pug with a friction fit inside this recess, making use of the keyway so it doesn't rotate while tightening a bolt. Printing in TPU will allow it to slightly swell making a nice snug fit without cracking the part. I've designed the adaptor it to accept an 20 mm M6 bolt (stainless with a cap head in my case), as opposed to the standard M5 stud and I made use of the standard galvanised split washer that came with the genuine brackets from Nissan. Once the bolt and screws were all in place, giving the bracket a gentle shake gave the classic "shaking the car" feeling, very solid, which gives me confidence this is going to be able to hold on much better than the janky solution which seems to have been here for the past decade or so. Overall I'm really pleased with how this turned out and maybe there are more people out there running these headlights without a centre stud at all! • Hey everyone, This is my first post apart of the introduction. I tried searching a bit on the forum but couldn't really get a straight answer. I got the car to my mechanic as I felt it being weak. It seems that it was missing on two cylinders due to the injectors. I had all my injectors clean and the car runs much better. The mechanic also confirmed my suspicions that the cat is clogged and needs to be tackled asap. The cat rattles a bit and the hot exhaust warning frequently lights up when driving after getting the injectors clean. In my introduction I was asked about what modification I might be interested in and mentioned a cat delete. From what I was told, this is not really beneficial on the RB20DE and there are more cons than pros.  Could perhaps anyone give some suggestions on what the best course of action would be since the current cat is toast and needs to be removed/replaced anyway? I can also sometimes smell a strong smell of fuel, but I'm not sure if this is related.
    • Hope the cans went down well at least
    • 255 can't go wrong with the price.
    • When I was replacing my pump due to being stranded in the wrong state, I went with the Deatschwerks 320lph kit. It is a direct plug in to the stock wires, harness, everything. It comes with a plug... but you can plug the OEM plug directly into this thing. https://justjap.com/products/deatschwerks-dw300-fuel-pump-nissan-s13-silvia-r32-r33-r34-skyline-c34-stagea?currency=AUD Downside: Won't actually flow that much on boost if you want to push it on E85, but it's comparable to the 040/255 etc. Little more actually.
