I don't believe that the Splitfire coils are designed to work with CDI, they will work but I don't think they are optimised. We use Mercury outboard coils with the Motec CDI, they are specifically designed to work with CDI. I can recommend that system for seriously upgraded engines, but I wouldn't be doing it for engine with say under 750bhp. Up until that level the standard RB26 ignitor and coils seem to do a pretty good job:cheers:

I agree with SK, we've seen a couple of RB26's run high 600+rwhp with standard coils and igniter, and even if the coils struggle then Splitfires by themselves seem to work fine.

I use a hks DLI Box on my car. I have standard coils. Works fine and makes good power.

you will not have any spark problems at that power level with standard coils and the DLI.

It has been my experience that 550 bhp is no problem for the standard coils and ignitor.
