I am trying to find someone who will re leather my airbag r33 S1 steering wheel it's like pulling hens teeth - any advice guys please would be welcome. - Cheers

Did try one guy off the forum but didn't answer emails or SMS, forget his name might have been John or similar??

Anyway any help would be appeciated.

Ithink theres a shop called classic auto trimers in Morely?? sounds right i think?? thats where i got my car done while ago and they were great!! however i do agree with what tigger said..

have a quick look at for sale section aswell

Re trim will never look like original....not even close......

So if you want the original look in the car get the secondHand one....

Or second option is to get a sports third party product.......

I think you want to keep the airbag........well keep this in mind........

There is a metal weight inside the steering in between the rack and the airbag....

It is suspended on 4 ruber cones that fractureover age......

So if you are buying an original second hand open the steering and check.....

It's purpose is to disolve any extra vibrations in the steering......

Look back a while on the tread I posted the images once I cut one open...

I had my r32 wheel retrimmed by Tim Sixsmith 0403382849.

Not many people will do it as its so labour intensive and generally a shitty job to do.

I was referred to him by morley classic trimmers. Will cost around $300

but is much nicer than a second hand wheel and beats using a boss kit for aftermarket.

Not yet, car will finally be ready next week after a looooong rebuild.

I can post up a pic then if you like.

Yeah the original leather is thin as, and the stitching can't be replicated as its machine done then the padding is injection molded under the leather.

It now looks like the stitching on a wrx wheel, and I used silver thread to colour match the car!

It took him about a week, but I told him I was in no hurry so im sure it can be

done quicker if necessary. Obviously price depends on time spent on it, $300 would

be the average price. Give him a call and get him to have a look. He lives in the hills but

can come to you as he is out and about during the week dropping off jobs for trimming shops etc.
