I know it's been talked about a bit before, but can anyone recommend places to get tyres around Canberra?

So far I'm thinking:

- Quickfit Belco

- Ed in Qbyn?

Craig at Quickfit Belconnen recommended BFG G-Force Sport as a value for money option, said something about them winning some sort of wheels tyre test recently. Otherwise I was looking at maybe Dunlop SP SPORT 3000A ($239 on special apparently).

Thoughts?

I'm not going to be doing any track work or anything like that, and I'm at pretty stock power so I don't need anything too flash? Lasting more than 12 months would be nice.

Ed can get tyres, he gets them through a guy in Bathurst for -really- good prices and they get delivered every Tuesday (he has a tyre fitter too).

Id reccomend the Falken ST-115. They have lasted around 30,000kms (i think) on ewens with some pretty spirited driving, and awesome grip in the wet and dry.

I'm currently on 225/45ZR17 & 235/45ZR17 and am thinking of switching to 235/45 on front so they're the same. (The quickfit guy recommended getting the front rolled if I do)

I've heard others talk about those Falkens being ok, but I don't really like the Ziex ZE512's on at the moment. Maybe they're a cheaper Falken though?

I use Falken ST115s, and i'd definitely buy them again. They've lasted 12 months and still have some life left in them. The fronts are still grippy as, while the rears, almost on the wear indicator, are just starting to slip. I payed $490 a corner for them from The Wheel Factory in Queanbeyan, and would be taking my car back there again, if Quikfit hadn't of taken them over. But we'll see what happens when i purchase again soon.

EDIT: Forgot to include tyre size is 265/35/18 on my car, thus the pretty $$$y figure.

i was going to say $490 a corner DANG now i remember why i am only getting 17's :D

i dont know how they compare to others but when i had my pulsar i bought my Goodyear Eagle f1 GDS3's from Jax in tuggeranong best price in canberra still not cheap for these tyres but yea very nice. Aurora i might keep an eye out for those ST115's alot of the boosted pulsars use them and swear by them too.

They're a fantastic tyre. My fronts are okay, my rears are shot though. I never expected to get 12 months out of them, so 14 was great :D Great wet weather tyre as well, MAD big grooves running through them.

Edit: Here's the tread pattern: ST115.jpg

Zeix are crap... I had a set on the GTR and they were useless.

The ST115 went really good on Ewens car, had awesome grip, and as said, he has done some pretty spirited driving :D

Just ring around a few places, it might even be worth a trip to Tempe to save money..

If northwest tyres in Fyshwick is still open they used to do 2nd hand for 100-150 per tyre fitted. I use the brother in Melbourne and always get a good deal and plenty of rubber on them for my track days.

Hell I use them on all 4 cars. Only second hand and nothing wrong with them as long as the rubber is plenty. If I can take them on the racetrack and survive at over 240kmh in the dry and 220kmh in the wet then they should be ok for road.

usually they come in from Europe so are pretty good quality. I currently have Continental SportcontactII front and Dunlop 9000SP rear (best specific street tyre ever used, and I go through a lot although don't compare with semi-comp).
