I have been told but dont know if it is true that the hks shockies are filled with nitrogen gas instead of air (BD4'S) and that i shouldn't let it out...I run on hks hyper adj's.But they are supposed to be filled with the same stuff.since then the shockies have undergone a full rebuild at www.shockreco.com.au in queensland. They will re-calibrate the damper to your specs i.e.softer.Very cheap i thought too @ $143 a shock.

Compnerd, Hipermax II are damper adjustables thus just adjust them around 7-10 or (clockwise +5 to +8 from the middle setting) will give you a softer ride.

As for the valve, I know what your talking about. But I know enough not to go fiddling with it if I don't know what it does.

All gas pressure shock absorbers use nitrogen to help stop foaming in the oil, it squeezes out the air bubbles.. Why? Because air bubbles are bad for damping, the valves need pure oil to work properly, air mixed in just slips straight past the valves. Hence no dampening.

For $143 per shock I can almost buy a brand new Bilstein, doesn't seem like good value to me. In addition I have no car for a week while the shock is away getting rebuilt. Plus, even after the rebuild, I still end up with a simplistically valved, twin tube, Japanese shock absorber that isn't designed for the rough stuff we have to put up with.

My 20 cents worth:cheers:

thanks sydney kid "I REWCON YOUR 20 CENTS WORTH "IS EXTREMELY GOOD VALUE!THANK YOU EVERYONE,IS THERE ANY WAY OF GETTING THESE THINGS UP TO AUSTRALIAS SHITTY ROAD SPECS,I ALSO HAVE ACCESS TO NITROGEN ,DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW MUC :Pimp: H THEY SHOULD HAVE?

CHEERS AND THANX

I Have An R33 Gtr With Hks Hypermax Coilovers, they Are Extremely Hard, they Also Have An Air Valve At The Bottom Of The Rears, what Is This For,any Help In Setting These Up Is Much Appreciated :)

we found that by running ours at a sensible ride height and setting the shock three clicks from its softest setting was the best to make the shock actually do its job and WORK.
