HKS TT Type 0 problem..

i have installed my new hks turbo timer, replacing a much older version of the same timer that came with the car,

the old timer was working fine, where as this new timer has power etc and appears to work fine but when i turn the car off the timer simply turns off also and therefore i get no countdown.

i grounded it and pluged it into ignition thingy, just like how the other one was setup,

there are 2 other cables that are not plugged into anything.. no sure what they are.. but the old timer ony had one spare wire.. which was also unplugged and it still worked fine..

anyone know what the problem might be??

I would guess that one of those spare wires is another earth for the handbrake, ie, if someone tries to take off when it is running down on the TT, handbrake off=engine off. The second spare would depend on extra functions of the TT, ie voltage, automatic mode etc

from memory the brown wire you have spare needs to be hooked up to another gound (or the same one as the other ground is ok). It is the 'safety' wire that mean once you switch of the ign, with no grounding of this wire the time switches off. to do it properly hook it up to your handbrake light switch, but if you just want the thing to work, ground it (that's how I hooked mine up as i couldn't be farked).
