it all depends on what the application is. If you want drag, curcit, drift or street or a mix of all of them. Generally(on the street) if you want better resonse you would go for a small twin setup which give a broader power band and better spool up time. However in terms of drag racing, the only limiting factor behind a big single is the power output. most of these are limited to around 800-1000ps whereas a twin set can go 1100ps and beyond. Also cost is invloved. If you have a twin setup you need two turbos, manifolds, set of lines etc. So really it is a comprimise between what you want and what you can afford.
