Missing @ high rpm under load... ?

the car seems to be missing mainly in 3rd and 4th. more so on cold nights and around 4-5000 (as boost hits max) what could this be?

im thinking either spark plugs, or ECU retarding timing cos of pinging. any ideas?

Had a similar thing happen to me once, on cold nights, full thottle and it misfired around 4000rpm. Was the plugs. When was your last spark plug change? Gapping mine fixed it.

ECU iginition retard after pinging is usually much more subtle.

Check you plugs, and also try changing your timing to 20-25. After all my hassles, it was simply timing. If you want more, do a search for surging.

well the cars only just been boosted to 1bar. was running 8psi

the plugs in it are NGK 3CP6ES's which were installed when running on 8psi. probably need new plugs then....

will check the timing as wel though, cheers guys!

I had the same problem and found out it was my plugs. It'd been reading about Uridium plugs which apparently generate extra current to keeps themselves clean. They were recommended to me but cost ard $30 each. HKS, NGK and I am sure a few other brands make them.

What other stuff have you got in your car? it won't handle 1 bar if it's stock. If you've still got the factory ECU then you'll need a fuel cut defender at the very least.

I had a shitty manual boost controller put in mine, the thing would spike its nuts off, hitting close to 1 bar very easily in higher gears. As soon as the boost maxxed the car would go *chug* *chug* *chug*. felt like the engine was gonna blow or something.

So i got the mechanic to put a better boost controller in and no more problems, it holds nicely at 9-10 psi.

if it was hitting boost cut it wouldnt then go back to normal though...

adam plug might be the culprit put some fresh ones in gapped to .8
