Parts alone will see you hit $5,000. Then there's having everything fitted (labour, consumables, fabrication of intake piping, random shit picked up along the way), then tuning.

The bold I already have - but it seems $5,000 seems to be the number. I'll most likely do backyardy for the stuff I know I can do (By I, I mean Bro in law and perhaps Rob if he was keen to molest Rosie - which would be HD Clutch, Coilpacks haha).

Okay sweet - that's good to know - what PSI would I be running with that?

Is anything else required for that? ECU, Turbz, Fuel Pump and tune?

main other things Injectors, afm, clutch, also cooling coilpacks if yours are tired, dont know if stock bov limits.

Should also match your suspension and braking too, plus learn to drive with that much power.

Would there be extreme differences in driving when you say "Learn to drive with that much power"? I'm guessing the wet will be my worst nightmare - I hate driving in the wet as it is haha

Ask yourself;

what do want out of this car?

will you ever track it?

do you want response or just a huge pull from 4k.

Do a speed off the streets day see how hard you actually want/can push your car.

Buy better tires i too use to be nervous driving in the wet too.

I got better tires and gradually pushed my car in the wet till i was comfortable.

Doing a skid pan day can aid this too.

Ask yourself;

what do want out of this car? - I'm all about acceleration - so getting 280kw is fine with me.

will you ever track it? Might track it once - but if the supporting mods to get bigger turbz will make it more trackable - then I might track it once or twice a year

do you want response or just a huge pull from 4k. - I love acceleration and I guess power from 3k - the earlier the better I guess

Buy better tires i too use to be nervous driving in the wet too. - I have fairly fatty tyres (275 rear) and actually feel quite safe in the wet (Also, I have traction control which is awesome :D) however, Turbo + Wet never makes me feel safe.

Doing a skid pan day can aid this too - If I go down this road - I'll deffo do a skid pan day so I can safely see the cars limits.

Width does not equal grip if anything your spreading the corner weights over a wider area so less downward pressure per square inch (or whatever measurement you want to use)

If you can't afford much buy an all season tires they wont be as good in the dry but you wouldnt get enough heat into them to notice even on spirited drives unless you hit the track (like ive found)

I have had 255s on the rear that i could spin up in third on the highway with a completely stock skyline and my current 235s with 205rwkw i can hold traction with a WOT 2nd gear pull (all wet conditions)

Wider tyre would mean more rubber on the road. Again, I stress that I enjoy Acceleration - not much else interests me. Cornering is nice but I don't intend to speed around corners. I guess my joy is the kick back, the 0-60/100. Also, I think I'd stick with dry tyres as in the wet with high kW's - I wouldn't do anything stupid - when it rains, I'm a grandma driver and I'm happy with that becuase in the dry that's where I have the fun.

But yeah, I guess it is things I have to consider. I'll need to ponder on whether or not I want to mod. This insight has been great.

Your'e best off with a high-flow or equivalent its all about "useable power"

No point having 300rwkw if you cant use it or just budhet for speeding fines.

Eg my car is first and foremost a daily, i wont drift it but ill happily grip race it.

So i will never go beyond getting a hi-flow as i want useable power on the street and great response.

I will get suitable supporting mods and be wanting it to be reliable and fuel efficient off boost and i will want my tune to reflect this.

I will base my suspension around a grip/daily setup i run 6/4kg springs not 10/8kg ill run descent streets tires not semi-slicks as i want to feel confident driving in all conditions.

I will also mildly upgrade my brakes to support my extra power, some descent rotors and pads, all lines in good condition.

Dead serious for anything shy of 400rwkw you'd be an absolute lunatic not to go with a Hypergear turbo. Either that, or you're just a brandname fanboi - in which case you wouldn't be concerned with price lol

250rwkw is plenty for a street car, but don't go buying parts with that power goal in mind otherwise you WILL end up replacing them when you want more power....and you'll want more. Don't bullshit yourself and say you won't :P

It has all the parts I needed to achieve a good 250rwkw street car.

I'm going to be swapping all the parts into my 34 when I purchase it.

SS1PU hypergear is a monster and makes 20psi by 3500rpm and pulls hard.

If you wanted to go even more response then you could step down a turbo and go e85 to push 250 out of a smaller highflow.

If you get a Hypergear turbo then you get a discount on an adaptronic ECU ($1100 I do believe).

This I believe supports not having to use an AFM so you can cross that off your list and save $200-300

    • Thanks again, really helpful chap from alpha omega wanted to speak to me, little concerned if this is meant to he aero alloy/ airospace quality and car sitting on drive has caused this.  Airplane are subject to much more changing temp and conditions than road salts! My caliper, many other components much older have surface rust but never eating part of the metal   Had I not seen it , could have been a disaster! specifically on rear part of bracket coming off like biscuit will update on what they say, helpful people so far

    • The MX5 has had some annoying rattles in both front doors over bumps So I installed fancy pants door bushings, which stopped all of the rattles with the windows up, but........with the windows down there was still rattles, so after some googling,  and a chat with MX5 Mania, I got some new door to glass weather seals, all the rattles, windows up, or down, are gone now Shout out to MX5 Mania, the weather seals were on sale, and when I head to Dural to pick the up they even fitted them for me for free I did see a "really" nice Blue NA sitting out front   and this Black NC PRHT that looked like it has sat in the sun for its whole life and never had a wash, the clear coat was non-existent, an it looked horrible, really horrible, but, it had a nice turbo kit with over 200kw, the thing went like a cut snake, bagging the rears through the gears and dosing like a champ 😍 But, as I've always stated, I am keeping my NC na, I'm happy with the current power the car makes In other news: MX5 Mania do a drive in drive out turbo kit, the only minor additional part recommended for boosting my car, as it sits now, is a oil cooler, and that bonnet vents are definitely required for track use Aftermarket version look a bit to "racecar" spec I wonder how Focus RS bonnet vents would look?????
    • Paint is only structural when applied to the outside of Chinese and Indian cars. Otherwise it should never be present between mechanical joints that were intended to be metal to metal. Pain slips, slides, cracks, compresses, and add thickness that wasn't intended to be there. It comes firmly under the category of "just no".
