So after Richard kindly lending me his trolley jack and just finishing reading a couple tutorials I have officially chickened out of doing my own brakes!

It seems there can be issues getting things on and off due to age etc. and I am not very well equipped here to deal with anything unforeseen that comes up.

Looks like its off to the shop for me. : ( LOL

Not sure Mik. Tutorials were saying that the discs could be fused to the hubs etc.

When I did mine, there was a threaded hole in the rotor that you put a matching bolt in and tighten, it pushes the rotor away from the hub. I can't remember but I think all 4 rotors had the hole. Made removal quite easy.

This was instead of using a rubber mallet.

Just smash em off. :D

Might pop over some stage during the day, will see how we go.

What do people use for diff and gearbox oils..? Thinking of changing mine tomorrow. Seen a lot of people recommending Redline, on the forums, though it looks like that won't be too easy to get my hands on for the time being?

NULON.

Made my gearbox and diff feel like new.

I also use Nulon for the Engine, All Very Smooth.

I have a little hand pump you can borrow if needed.

Make sure you can undo the filler plug BEFORE you undo the drain plug. ;)

I use motul gear 300 in my box. It's expensive but cleared my synchro issue right up and shifting feels great now. I also ran it in my diff as it's a viscous still so i didn't t need any lsd additives in it.

Just be a bit careful with that. I've been a redline user for years including in the race car and have been very happy (in particular it hid gearbox issues like crunchy synchros). However, a couple of years back they changed the formula to remove something bad (carcinogenic) and it has never been the same since. The main issue is it expands heaps when hot (which happens a lot in a race car) and so it comes out the gearbox breather...literally litres of it.

I've used and was happy with the royal purple gearbox/diff oil for racing, but I would probably stick for motul for hard street use, or anything for light street use. Nulon has a good rep too but I haven't used it

Yeah, mine were just a bit warped, a little surface rust underneath, but not much.

Putting the wheels on and off is half the job, have a go!

And if they are fused so bad we cant get em off, just put the wheels back on and take it to a shop.

BIG jack, breaker bar, tourque wrench, rattle gun, etc.. got these if you guys need em.
