Yeah the one here isn't armed 100% of the time. But it's held here with everything it needs just incase of an emergancy, Like if a high profile flight is coming in they deploy it as a care package for said flight (and they can't get one from Williamtown). I hear that they want to have a landing strip @ JOC intime for the F35 Lightning Launch, as the F/A-18 is due to be decommisioned soon.

Edit: the one here i believe they rotate from Williamtown i don't know if it is the same plane all the time. But i see 1 at least 1 time a week.

Hmm one of the Varients of the F-35 can takeoff vertically and land vertically. So they may not even put in a runway.

Australia is not getting the vertical lift JSF's they're only for the marines from memory and I think UK is having a few. We've already have a handful of them, but they're currently in the states being tested/worked on but they are AU JSF's - be quite a few more years before we start seeing them around Australia.

Yeah i know full deployment is for 2020. Prob more like 2025. Guess we will find out.

My point was there should be a jet in Canberra ready always coz 15mins is a lot of time. Theres a parliament house. Good target.

15mins from Williamtown to Canberra - it would be a lot of time if the enemy was flying in Canberra, but as I explained in a previous post - enemy jets wouldn't get to Canberra in time for that. Too much radar etc. It's not like the US/EU where you can look across the field and be looking into a different country.

F 35 is a dual purpose bike plane.

F 22 has gone down the same path as the Comanche

Theres only so much g force a body can take, and heaps of older fighters are that good.

Unmanned is the new thing.

So wish the Comanche went into full production :(

    • Welcome.  Glad to hear that you have gained some knowledge that has helped you. I believe the only fix for the power steer belt is an electric conversion with a Holden astra pump. If you get a chance, post pics of your car, please. 🙂
    • Just ordered those bosses, hopefully that does the trick thank you very much everyone for your replies it's really appreciated
    • to have this type of adjustment possible with a curve as I wish, what budget (engine) should be planned?
    • People still have Skylines? I thought they're non-existent now.
    • Harness update time have had great fun and learnt so much already so far with this project. I started off making both the ignition and injector sub harnesses in the hope any mistakes i made here aren't as hard to undo and learn from as the main harness.  A cool comparison of the old harness using presumably TXL wire and the new which is using Tezel. Also opted to use DTM plugs to keep the whole setup as neat and tidy as possible and tucked the wiring under the coil bracket to try and keep it all from sticking out too much. Although the injector harness, I'm not overly happy with as I'm still using the rubber boots that are supplied with the type of plugs it just looks ugly and sticks out like a sore thumb with the white identifiers so a slight redesign may be done.   Then it was main harness time and most importantly trying to route it nice and away from the heat it will use the OEM heater hose routing which is no longer present to keep the harness up high and secure. it's amazing how much smaller this harness is able to be compared to the old one. plugged everything into the emtron and with the help of the tuner again attempted to start it up and instantly fired up and running smoothly on all 6 which was a big shock to myself. So still some routing and adjusting to be done for the final fit up and installing a knock sensor harness plug which is in the post all has gone surprisingly well.     The old harness for shits and giggles.
