I've got Korns greatest hits... wanna copy?

I'm so observant (no really) - does anyone watch ABC on wednesdays, there's a show called Hollowmen which I accidently taped the beginning of, and anyway the intro has various shots of Canberra and I was about to delete it and then I spotted a Skyline! It's the arse end of a white R34. It's only a really quick shot, so I rewound and slowed it right down to be sure.

so there you go. just thought everyone should know.

got all of Korns albums...(if anyone needs a back up!!!! let me know...) need something else now lol... also pete murray and jack jonhson so not only the heavy stuff but some mellow as well. Kind of like the heavy for weights training, have disturbed, Metallica (old school) linken park,

Crackdown on ACT car hoons

29/08/2008 12:05:00 PM

Car hoons have been targeted by police in Canberra, with authorities shutting off a rural arterial road after receiving a tip off about an illegal street race.

More than 60 drivers were breath tested, 11 cars slapped with defect notices and eight traffic fines were issued in a major clampdown last night on dangerous and irresponsible driver behaviour.

Police closed off a section of Naas Rd, south of the ACT rural town of Tharwa, after receiving a tip off about a street race and burnout meet.

Traffic Operations Acting Superintendent Peter Davis said the operation was part of an ongoing effort to reduce antisocial driver behaviour on Canberra's roads.

"Police are able to target these drivers with the assistance of the public and using unmarked police vehicles," he said.

"This group appeared to have arranged this meet which was quickly shut down by police.

"We will continue to target illegal behaviour and we would encourage anyone who may see this type of behaviour to contact police."

I've read on some other forums that they're cracking down a lot and people are leaving their cars in the carpark in places like Civic or at UC and coming back to find a nice defect sticker on them. Apparently all this has a lot to do with some of the dodgy street behavior that's going on in Canberra.

I know that this Rush Hour thing isn't new but has it recently gotten bigger or something? Not sure why its so much in the spotlight now?? Plan to stay as far away from that crap as possible

give us a race track then!

We've got the hillclimb track, Wakie is only an hour away and there is always rally. Not bad, although it could be better, keeping in mind that this town mainly supports theatre and arts with little support for motorsport. Bureaucracy makes official motorsport expensive for young people, so its a shame more tax dollars aren't going towards these things to keep it off the street.

Our local press doesn't cover much of local motorsport either, so promoting is difficult. I was amazed at how much the Bathurst press get behind their clubs... while I was up there at the beginning of the month it was covered on two TV stations (9&7) and their local magazine. I was on the front and back cover of their newspaper and I didn't even do anything special (just turned up), yet our clubs publicist has sent info/photos to quite a few of our local newspapers and they didn't get a mention (to my knowledge, and I was watching out).

Stanhope got rid of the V8's (sadly one of the few promises he did deliver on) and didn't deliver on his empty promise to build the Dragway within 18 months

Something to think about at voting time

Some thing that goes on Thursday nights, I think the location varies. Has a lot of "car hoons" that gather and do burnouts and drifting etc. Attracts a lot of police attention.

I only know what it is cause a few of the boys on Canberra Cruises were mentioning it.

I don't know the truth to this but apparently a few weeks ago a cop was undercover and people found out and he got bashed.

    • You know, that is exactly the thing that I was thinking a coupe of hours ago. I even had a plan for a meme, involving one big one, another big one, and the Old El Paso girl saying "¿por que no los dos?"
    • NoS, 2 of the big ones.
    • Oh, that's grim. Something bad has been happening there.
    • Put an endoscope down the hole and saw this. Not quite all around the bore but a good 60% at least. Chin to the chest and towards further disappointments I guess.
    • 2 does "sort of" applies, maybe......but looking at what parts would be needed for the swap to get engineered, registered, and insured, and basically that's everything under the car, the modifications the make it legal would be problematic and horrendously expensive, all for a street car that just cruises around and hits a few twisty roads on the weekends Also, from looking at the NSW rules and Regs, with all modifications that is required just to make the car safe and not twist itself to pieces, and then actually get registered for street use, may still be impossible nowadays As for 1, when you add in a fresh engine, fresh transmission, rear cradle and diff, tailshaft, suspension, brakes, cooling, and all the other fabrication required, your probably looking at up to $100k to do it right, all for a 20 year old MX5 that is over engineered and you would never be able to actually use the power it has on the street, much like your beastie, which I love, but you actually track that thing and can use all of its powers in anger, in a safe environment  Hell, the old Bogan Cruise Ship had more power than I could use on the street, and in hindsight, I went a bit silly on that thing, it didn't really need the 500hp it had for what I actually used the car for, it was fun, but basically unusable on the street if you value your licence  As for cams, yeah, I'll probably book it in for them to get installed and tuned soonish, like next month after MX5 Mania are back at work....... and yes, I've already sent a email to bin the turbo quote and quote instead to install cams and a new Fluidampr balancer that will suit the 2.5 better than the OEM 2.0 balancer that is swapped over for the 2.5 install, as the balancer needs to get pulled to time the cams it's a while your in there sort of thing I did think a bit about flex fuel for a laugh, but being na, and no where really around locally anymore to get E85, I've binned that idea, so no sweet sweet corn smells are set for the car I wish E85 was more of a standard fuel, it's better for the environment, better for tuning, plus that sweet sweet smell we all love As for fitting in the family, that's not needed, as everyone in the family already owns a car that can seat 5 humans comfortably enough, the MX5 is "my toy" As for buying a car that is already built, nah, I would rather pick and choose my parts, I enjoy the process, and in the big picture, the additional cost is well worth the enjoyment, and the occasional frustration, I get out of doing it, albeit with other people spinning the spanners, and me, just paying the invoice 🤣
