So I paid a f**king OUTRAGEOUS amount of money to have child restraints installed this afternoon. Originally 'quoted' $594, ended up being $1149. After expressing my disgust and disappointment with the lack of phone call advising of the horrific increase, I was given a discount of 1 hour labour - $148.50)

Seriously, I condone and whole-heartedly ENCOURAGE people to have their cars registered by any means they devise. If this includes dodgy RWCs then so f**king be it (as long as your car is safe on the road, that is. I don't want dodgy cars getting around)

Avoid Dickson at all costs. Literally at ALL COSTS, because surely they will fall shy of the consequences should you not avoid them.

How the f**k does it cost that much? They're just f**king bolts or something aren't they?

Well I believe technically (and I mean TECHNICALLY, 'by the book' kinda thing) they have to be fitted in a specific location, which ends up being inside the speakers in most cases....therefore he fabricates a 'bridge' style fitting that goes over the speakers but under the mesh cover. The bolt goes through the mesh and is secured to this bridge.

Either way, I'm really f**ked off about not even being called....oh well, no choice huh

So this is why each of the speaker cases in my parcel self has a hole in it!

Sounds like a friggen joke to me, I would have just not paid them anymore than the price they quoted. Which workshop was it?

Obviously not naming the workshop on public forums ;) plus I don't want to talk bad on them anyway

honestly there isn't much you can do in these situations (unless it's a HUGE price difference, like thousands). I wasn't so much disputing the price, more so just cracking the shits coz they didn't call me...I didn't have much choice given I needed to get it engineered anyway so might as well get them to fit it too (hint there). Oh also I never received a proper quote, it was just a fairly generous estimate (though obviously not nearly generous enough lol)

I do believe that it's a joke for what I 'got', but I can guarantee that it was good workmanship and actually took the time I paid for to do, since I can tell he removed the rear seats as well as welded shit and whatnot.

Oh man that makes me feel sick.

In the R32, I put a bolt with a large washer/plate through the parcel shelf, in the exact spot i was shown to do it.

They inspected it and passed it no worries.

Thank you to Roofrack City in Phillip. They are approved for this.

It cost... oh man, i cant remember exactly, about $15.

Sorry dude.

>_<

Yeah Dickson=Death
