It's funny Mik joked about it being a hillclimb... as a teenager I lived just down the road, and let's just say we spent a fair bit of time in that forest on the dirt roads learning some rally driving skills LOL

That was the thing to do back in the day.

there wasnt much else.

Many dattos destroyed, and the odd corrolla.

First day back at work after 10 or so days being sick (Unpaid leave, CURSE YOU). Anyways, first day back at work I decided to take the monring a bit easy and search for some Skyline reviews. The oldest review I have found is in 1999.

A good read. It's really interesting reading about such old cars to us, but reviewed as new back in the 90's.

R34 GTR coming to Australia: http://smh.drive.com.au/motor-news/nissan-ponders-gtr-20100823-13gn0.html

#@Sinista32 The Skyline GT-R wont be cheap. In Britain, the price is 50,000; if it happens here, Nissan Australia will be setting the price around $140,000. I remember us trying to find some cost figures for the R34 GT-R on it's release.

I've tried to find some Drive.com.au articales about the R32 GTR when it first featured or even in pre-production but I'm guessing Drive.com.au wasn't around then.

jeremy Clarkson from top gear did a review of the r32 when it first released. The video is on youtube. It's an interesting watch.

P.S good to see the public servant here is working the hardest in the office today.

Yeah seen that video. Pretty interesting that's for sure. I hate reading, but was looking forward to it.

p.s The work I do in an hour probably admits to your work in a week :P. I work hard when I need to, I also take advantage of slower times in my day ;) Work smarter ! Not harder !

you coming out to a Friday meet soon?

haha I know exactly who that was. He has the car back (so people can chauffeur him in it lol), but license will remain suspended of course. He was busted on the way back from Sydney after an impulse drive up there for the weekend after a rather serious shitstorm with his housemate(s).....was really late Sunday night (hence it being told as "Monday" as it technically was lol), so at least it wasn't during the day when there's traffic....and yes, I realise you can't excuse it :P

He drives (or drove, lol) a Mitsubishi 380. Never usually drives aggressively, so it was definitely a once off that he unfortunately got caught for LOL

That's amazing news ! As I'm sure everyone here obeys the road rules. Police Targeting Modified cars was a horrid month (Whenever those RTA cars with cops going around). Speaking of which. I spotted a RTA / Cop setup stop thingy near Gunners. 4 cops and 2 RTA cars - saw one cop speed off with sirens and as I was passing I gave them a bit of my JDM PSSSSSCH, cops head's turned thinking "there goes our one of our monthly statistics !" as I drove off into the sunset :D

Chris, your taxpayers dollars are being well spent on my SAU browsing :P

I knew of someone who did 180 in a 60km/h in Newcastle. Sped got his license taken away and car as well. Complete moron he was.

Good joke....

And ill be out to the Friday meet as soon as i get the GTR back. Don't know when that will be though. 2 weeks maybe? maybe more i don't know. I just bought a house and an engagement ring and my car will be about $3000 so im pretty poor at the moment so im in no real rush to pick it up LOL

    • Very decent bit of kit. Definitely black it out I reckon.
    • Because people who want that are buying euros. The people with the money to buy the aftermarket heads and blocks aren’t interested in efficiency or making -7 power, they’re making well over 1,000hp and pretty much only drive them at full throttle  best way to way make money is know your customer base and what they want and don’t spend money making things they don’t want.
    • It's not, but it does feel like a bit of a missed opportunity regardless. For example, what if the cylinder head was redesigned to fit a GDI fuel system? It's worth like two full points of compression ratio when looking at modern GDI turbo vs PFI turbo. I'm pretty reliably surprised at how much less turbo it takes to make similar power out of a modern engine vs something like an RB26. Something with roughly the same dimensions as a -7 on an S55 is making absolutely silly power numbers compared to an RB26. I know there's a ton of power loss from things like high tension rings, high viscosity oil, clutch fan, AWD standby loss, etc but it's something like 700 whp in an F80 M3 vs 400 whp in an R33 GTR. The stock TF035HL4W turbos in an F80 M3 are really rather dinky little things and that's enough to get 400 whp at 18 psi. This just seems unwise no? I thought the general approach is if you aren't knock limited the MFB50 should be held constant through the RPM range. So more timing with RPM, but less timing with more cylinder filling. A VE-based table should accordingly inverse the VE curve of the engine.
    • I've seen tunes from big name workshops with cars making in excess of 700kW and one thing that stood out to me, is that noone is bothering with torque management. Everyone is throwing in as much timing as the motor can take for a pull. Sure that yields pretty numbers on a dyno, but it's not keeping these motors together for more than a few squirts down the straight without blowing coolant or head gaskets. If tuners, paid a bit more attention and took timing out in the mid range, managed boost a bit better, you'll probably see less motors grenading. Not to name names, or anything like that, but I've seen a tune, from a pretty wild GT-R from a big name tuner and I was but perplexed on the amount of timing jammed into it. You would have expected a quite a bit less timing at peak torque versus near the limiter, but there was literally 3 degrees of difference. Sure you want to make as much as possible throughout the RPM range, but why? At the expense of blowing motors? Anyhow I think we've gone off topic enough once again lol.
    • Because that’s not what any of them are building these heads or blocks for. It’s to hold over over 1000hp at the wheels without breaking and none of that stuff is required to make power
