You machine where the brake pads touch.

I have never done skyline brakes but done many of various cars so if you wanna hand and I'm free I'll come help and learn. Also I have a piston pusher backerer<---- yes that's a technical term lol

Okay Cant really do that with a slotted rotor. That's why I was wondering what Mik was saying to make the rotor straight

Im pretty sure you can machine slotted rotors.

Easy to find out, just ring that Rotor Pro dude in the yellow pages.

But yeah, what he does is have the rotor bolted on the hub, and then has a machine that machines it straight.

Once its done the rotor is matched to the hub, so you must mark the alignment, just in case.

Cant remember exactly what the toolface looked like, so maybe it wont do slotted. dunno. But the machine spun the rotor past the toolface or stone thats in it.

Scissor jacks work fine, little slow but not a big deal. I have a foot ball game Saturday but worse case I'll lend you the piston pusher backerer

And Im fairly sure you can machine slotted rotors just do light skims not too much at once. Its really no different to decking a head and it has many of slots/holes/grooves

slotted can be machined.

but, alot of places wont.

can damage the teeth if cut too deep, if cut shallow, can take too long and they dont get their monies worth/profit.

Its sad that customer service comes 2nd to profit in so many things these days....I see it so often, Im always reminding the guys under me at work to just do something because its the right thing.

You don't go into business to lose money

You won't have a business without customers though haha I have turned down plenty of business purely on their customer sercice. I normally go by a 2chance rule. I consider the first time to be a one off and if it happens a second I'm gone.

I'm well aware of that, but reputation is a big thing, as is honesty. If a work shop said to me "hey we have to charge a little more because your discs are slotted and they take a little more time" I would be 100% OK with that. I understand time is money but you'd wanna be damn busy to flat out turn away work because it was a little more time consuming then the norm.

Anyways in most cases where someone is using a brake lathe they set it, make sure it's fine then go and do something else....

Exactly, at my work we have contracts and if means occasionally you need to do that bit extra, so be it. Taken the good with the bad.

I also believe in a second chance, sometimes people have a shit day lol

on my way back from Sydney, some WRX flew past me atleast 150+, he must have been testing how fast he can get on the big uphill stretch. Few hundred meters or so ahead a highway patrol popped out of nowhere and it took him less than 30secs to catch up. Gotta say i would really like to know what they do to those Highway patrols. Theyre definitely not some stock VE commy

Haha crazy. My brother saw an HSV R8 ($80,000'ish) Highway patrol couple months ago. I'm sure they won't release the specs of the cars though :(

This section of road you speak of, I know it well. Have performed a similar test myself when I had the 33....sure, it's a bloody steep stretch of road...but Mr WRX has a bit of work to do if he wants to join the club lol

The ONLY thing I've heard about "performance" mods on police vehicles was to do with raising the idle RPM to compensate for the increased load on the alternator from all the electronics running in the thing.

^^^^ I second the dead stock comment. They are stock ss, xr6t, xr8.

Sydney have sweet cop cars. Unmarked typhoons and shit.

Does this stretch of road have bridges? And a wind sock up the top?

I drive to and from Sydney every day, I know there hidey holes :)

it wasnt an R8

haha only never to get caught too. Its pretty damn tempting with a big stretch like that.

They are dead standard.

Nice im sure they have some tweaks atleast ECU or they have some serious skill. quick enough to catch some hektik boys in a Ferrari. But again I guess theyre seriously trained.
