Just received a call from the tech inspector who said he will check my car at the track 8 to 9am so all go. Also tinkered on the dyno with cam gears and more yesterday and now makes 384rwkw 23psi and 200rwkw at 3400rpm. Car weighs a bit over 1400kg estimated and has 4.4 ratio diff and running 305 wide slicks, circuit racing type so not best and will be the handicap.

Get it out of the hole okay and you're a shoe-in for 11's, Johnny! Underestimate straightlining and you're a shoe-in for 14's !! ;)

384 is nice and all but for me the best bit is the 200kw a 3400rpm, that is some serious low down power... Nice work John.

Richard

Wow with that amount of power surely you'd be able to make a bold statement or two? That's way more power than any of us are making, and a better ratio than the 4.11's the 'Lines are using.

I'm up for a grudge match in my humble little standard GTS, I'll go as far to say 2 out of 3 races I'll have ya!

If it rains and the event is cancelled we'll be given the next available Saturday wsid has ;) but it wont rain

fcuk you drag boyz are soft, everyone knows the track is most fun when it is wet!

FFS Pete used to do rain dances before track days!

WTF is wrong with you people?

I am a bloody goose and the only person who mentioned the date!!!

Grrr!!!

just out of curiousity what is the average power for those who are attending tomorrow's event???

Ummm no.................

stuff it hahaha if anyones thinking of coming to watch, race, run nude, cheer or make love to me they wont be allowed in unless they're racing or pit crew of someone thats racing and on the list that will be at the gate ie not on list no entry as they're allowing no spectators

and BTW lets be clear the bretts not being the bastard here, he has been given *very* clear instructions from the track :D if we can make this day a success we may be allowed to have more club members along this time

Well, all incidents aside that was a bloody awesome day.

I can't wait for the next one.... a million thanks to Brett the Buster the man for organising it.

How'd the results go?

I only ran twice, 12.9 sec and 12.5 sec, didnt get the chance to strip the car out or even put the boost up before trouble struck. Also drove the red RX7 to 13.1 sec :D

Well this was the first time I've dressed in drag and you know I've been on the right track before, excuse the pun Dino. At the moment the mighty stock green machine is awaiting diagnosis so watch this space could be major could be minor but I never like to take a chance on these things.

I went, I had fun smacking all these Skylines. Did not even think of falling asleep it was actually fun. Not as much as 2rismo though he was on fire. First time for me. Shot my mouth off, educated experienced to some extent might add.saying " Should do a 11 sec " Missed first run did a 12.18 wheel spinning all the way. Later did a 11.56 130mph. They say this is fast but I don't know. I think 10 seconds is where it is at. It was faster than all the Skylines though or should I not mention this, he he.

Word is next big show down is Wed night drags 10th Nov. Going to be a big Zed turnout so plenty of contenders. Lets do a Zed Skyline Challenge this night? Yes I will be there with the slot car with a few more tweaks. Maybe get some of the big guns out. Any GTR's that beat me can turn off there front wheel drive and we party and see. No not fair, OK we run anyway.

    • Out here E90s are the cheapest way into a sporty-ish car because everyone knows just how expensive the repairs can get. 8-10k USD for an automatic 335i.
    • Noted. Have noticed BMW are more 'high maintenance' for sure. They've attracted my attention as I think the used car prices seem reasonable vs other options, and the extra quality overall vs a commodore / camry / corolla or similar of the same vintage is appealing, especially the interior, and they are more on the sporty side whereas the others mentioned can be more cruising or economical A-to-B only.
    • Haha yeah I know, this is SAU after all, why are we talking about BMW's of all things!? I hear you on the 'don't have to worry about it' side of things. Having been fortunate enough to be have been able to buy a brand new motorbike or two...never really enjoyed them as much as I'd have liked as you worry so much about where you park it, will it get scratched, stolen, attempted theft, knocked over, etc...and yes dirty. Older less valuable bikes you can just go where you want and park it wherever and not really worry that much in comparison. And who cares if it gets dirty! Never owned a V8, and have had my eyes on VE / VF commodores for years but with their prices climbing so high, the M3 has come into focus more as prices are much closer than I've ever seen...is it a potential contender now?...of course need to factor in the S65 'maintenance' especially and like you said general M car 'tax'. One can dream anyway. But more on the reality front - did read the whole 330i thread as well and was a great read too, both threads enlightening as I've never even driven one of these cars! I do recall 330i didn't seem to have the same amount of issues for almost the same car (turbos and related differences notwithstanding)...perhaps down to getting it earlier in it's life so looked after better than the 335i? Perhaps so as your 130i has been good and quite similar, so finding a car that's been looked after well is the especially-crucial-BMW-first-step.
    • Nice. Dont worry about the time of not running. My current skyline hasn't run since I bought it. About 8 years ago.
    • It's also worth noting that I am heavily and unconditionally biased. I've had a lot of cars including some GTRs a fair while ago. I love my BMW's now a lot. They make no sense a lot of the time and the guys on here remind me regularly that I could get something else that does what I want better and cheaper. If you're going to take on an older BMW it's definitely a commitment. If you bail on it early you'll lose money and also the ability for it to put a smile on your face. Stick with it and it just gets better.  f**k I should get into advertising.
