Help with P-plater and R33 GTSt

Hey guys, upon searching for a car that i really like i happened to come across the skyline. It's always been nice looking, quick and hoT.

I would like to purchase an R33 GTS25t and am on my P's.

Down here in melbourne i've managed to gather this:

Kw must be under 125 per tonne.

engine capacity to weight ratio not over 3.5 litres per tonne.

Now im not sure of the weight of the R33 - could someone plase tell me the exact weight that i'd have to divide by in order to work it out?

And also since it's 2.5 i think i'm safe there...

so i just need the weight - MUCH appreciated

I think its OK.

If its ratio is 2 high, then i dont think the cops really care.

I've driven r33 GTSTs past them often, even been pulled over

a lot, power to weight ratio didnt even come up.

If you want to live long enough to get your full licence DONT buy a skyline on your P's

i did stupid things when i was on my P's like most of us do, and the only reason i am here to talk about it, is because i had a 1978 datsun (skyline GL). The idea of P plates is to get experience driving, before you start driving a powerful car. I still managed to spin the datsun and get into scary situations that i know for a fact i would not have been able to get out of if i had my R33. Especially in the wet, take the example of the p plater who killed his 2 friends on Dandy Rd a few weeks ago.... he lost it on a gentle left hander and slid for 100m before slamming into a pole!!!! The only reason this happened was because the car was too powerful and he didnt have the experience to know that foot to the floor in the wet is not possible!!!!!!!

that driver on dandy isnt a typical driver.. he was being stupid.

EDIT: An R33 weighs something like 1360kg IIRC, and makes 185kw. Use a calculator to work out the kw/tonne ratio.

Dam... i think it comes out to be 136kw per tonne..

Which is over 125 per tonne...

Maybe i should hold out until im off my P;s

you cant drive a r33 turbo legally on your P's in Vic. You will get defected. Get some experience in a shit box for a few years and save more money for a skyline.
