Whilst I can't remember exactly which was which,I used Redline in my VL Turbo's gearbox and diff',and it made a BIG difference for the better!I got mine through Rare Spares/Auto 1 in Phillip:I just got them to order me whatever I needed to suit the VL.Rest assured that, although it's got "good stuff" in it now, when my "little engine upgrade" is done on the GTR,it'll have Redline's product in it(if there's something made by them to suit said GTR...I'd be suprised if there wasn't...).I'm running 8100 Motul X-cess at present, for my current state of tune(boost=heat, remember?!),but I'll swith to one of the 300V Motuls' once the rebuild occurs,as I'll have more revs, more boost, more heat and....ooooh yeah...MORE power!!

For the engine 4100 turbolight is fine, this is what Ewen uses and the car loves the stuff. For gearbox/diff the following is what Redline reccomends

GEARBOX: MT90 (Lightweight Shockproof)

DIFF: 75W90 (80W140)

The first stuff is what Redline reccomends for normal driving, the stuff listed in brackets is what Redline lists for "motorsports" (motorsports typically being sustained periods of hard driving/heat). I put lightweight shockproof in my gearbox and it fixed up a notchy second gear nicely. Awesome stuff. I also used the 75W90 in my diffs and they dont "clunk" anymore. Out of the following above I would personally use

ENGINE: Motul 4100 Turbolight

GEARBOX: Redline lightweight shockproof

DIFF: Redline 75W90

hmmm this interests me, i just hand my car over to F&F Imports, and $115 later my car is back, serviced with new oil and stuff (can you tell i know lots about the technical side of cars) i dont know what they do, but as far as i know they take some stuff out, fill it with new stuff, and the car keeps running well.

i didnt really think there was a huge difference with oils etc. i mean i knew that certain oils did better things for performance cars, but yeah never really checked up on it, i guess i should ask F&F what they are putting in?

I think F&F use a brand of oil called United something or other. They have got copies of letters from various motor companies like BMW etc plastered over the walls endorsing it for use in their cars. Should be ok as long as it's full synthetic and around the correct weight.

I just bought some Castrol R 5w30 from Supercrap for about $45 to try out next oil change.

cheers

    • This could be sold and shipped to the US for many gold pieces. RMS has no say in that. Ask various Western Sydney inhabitants how it works.
    • Ha ha ha, mine loves to spend, all on the dogs (they're our kids, and her spending would likely rival that of some people raising children!) the only benefit is, her spending is tax deductible as she runs a business in the dog industry 😛 The above all means she can spend race car budget quicker than I can. 😛 That and a lot of the things I want are very expensive, and I can be a bit "you want how much for that?!" And at other times overly impulsive. Or I start the w days of research, get to day 1.5 and get really annoyed that no one will advertise actual specifics and it's just marketting BS and I go "well, now I don't want anything to do with that now!" Also I hate paying lots of money for something I can make from $50 in materials. Then I get the shits halfway through making things and wonder why others who just buy parts have more fun... 😛
    • Their 240Z with the RB26 would be a real nice thing to have in a garage to come out for an occasional weekend cruise It's such a cool thing in so many ways Sadly, we have a blue 240Z shell that I walk past every day, just sitting outside a shed at work, it has been slowly disintegrating and falling apart into the ground for the last few years, the owner cannot be found, and I am unable to "claim it" I've been told by work and the RMS, the rust in the body is excessive though, and it has had most of the salvageable stuff, like panels, trim and switch gear stripped off it over the last year or two, work keeps threatening to put it in one of our metal scrap bins, I wish they did though, as it makes Mark sad walking past it
    • Good tips, I like it! 😂😂 My wife is a LOT more frugal than me so it's only me we need to worry about! A splurge to her is buying 2 pairs of socks in one visit at Kmart!
    • Haha, the appropriate response to the question "Is this new?" is "I've had this for a while.". With the unspoken small print that a while may be the time since this morning or five years ago   And to be fair I learned that from the best, i.e. my wife. Because it goes both ways.
