This thread is now nine months old.

It's taken some time to get some of the bit's together, mostly finding the money.

The budget build idea died some time ago but I still need to ensure I get value for money.

So far I've fitted a hybrid fmic and done the piping myself, new plugs and coils, 040 pump, fujitsubo catback and I've got a power fc that is still in it's box until I get a new turbo and split dump to cat.

Since fitting the fmic it seems to hit boost a bit later and it feels sort of 'elastic' or not as hard hitting but in the top end the car feels a fair bit quicker.

I'm tempted to fit the pfc now and add boost control but a new turbo is not too far away and I don't want to pay to tune it twice.

I'm still running the stock boost which has actually lost 2psi (9 down to 7psi) over the past few months for some reason.

This was before the fmic but didn't change when it was fitted

Why would it be losing boost? I don't think there is a leak.

most of the the time you will lose boost when fitting the the FMIC not sure why it didn't do it straight away but it is good that you got the PFC, cause that way you can get it tuned lots of different places your not stuck for places for tuning as i don't know alot of places around me that remap ECU's just wait till you get you turbo then would get the injectors and FPR fit it all and then you should see 220+ rwkw running on fairly safe boost, even though i have heard of some guys on here running 20psi + for a couple of years now with stock internals and there car still drives day in day out i guess they are just lucky, personaly i don't like going over 16psi gives you a bit of leeway

hey guys,

just had a few quick questions about the set-up on my r32 i recently-ish baught.

The car is currently runnig:

HKS 2530 Turbo

Hybrid FMIC

Greddy Emanage

GTR Fuel Pump

GTR Injectors

GTR Fuel Lines

3" Dump Pipe/Exhaust

It made 200rwkw on 13psi

Im wondering what range is it safe to adjust the boost both hi and low, i like to keep the boost down in the winter due to crappy melbourne weather, but turn it up on the dyno and track.

So what is the safest boost i can run both low and high?

Is it worth getting a thicker grex headgasket to run a bit more boost/safer on this boost?

What other areas of the engine should i look at improving?

Cheers

The RB20 already runs a pretty turbo friendly 8.5:1 compression, and being a 2L motor i wouldnt recommend de-compressing the engine with a thicker head, especially when the cost of buying/installing the gasket soon gets pricey.

By the sounds of it the car has most of the bits it needs, id wind a few more psi into it, up to about 15psi, and if you really need to spend some money then get an oil cooler...then spend the rest of your money going to the track and enjoying the car :)

...and as for losing boost pressure with a fmic? I actually found that my boost level climbed a few psi with the cooler i installed

hey guy just dynoed my 32 GTS-T today and making 170 kw on 1 bar,

my currently set up is all stock engine except FMIC,Sard fuel regulator,hi flow cat and exhaust and lastly e-manage.

PS-is this a gd figure or just a normal one.

I made 186rwkw the other day at Bresciani Racing

Specs Are

RB20DET (Silver top)

Hybrid copy intercooler

RB25 Turbo ( has steel wheel conversion) running 17psi

3" exhaust

Pod Filter

I maxed the injectors out on the dyno run

so for more power I will need GTR injectors, Bosh 044 fuel pump, Microtech LT8

hey fellas just wondering how much they make stock atw? most of you have around the 180rwkw mark so i just wanted to know how big of an improvment you gained......

Thanks

110-115rwkw's standard i believe!

Mine is auto i only made 232rear wheel horsepower (170rwk)

Front mount (china brand)

XFORCE exhaust no cat.

apexi filter

gtr injector

040 fuel pump

GCG stage 2 hiflow r33 turbo

Rom tune (chip that goes into standard computer)

not a very good budget as it costa fair bit all up

---==Thread Hijack Alert==---

they make 160kw at flywheel but

and to add insult to injury, the sr20det is 162... with more midrange. And less weight.

But as I am about to come into possesion of a stock rb20det, I would like to know how much gets to the road (as per my sig...)

heck, if anyone knows what an rb20 can do for all the wheels, I'd like to know too (gts-4, you see). So one day I can see where I've been

:)

Ok, this is how you make 200rwkw on an RB20DET with as little mods as possible.

Highflow stock turbo or Highflow RB25 (preferably)

PWR front mount intercooler (connects to factory pipework)

Exhaust - 3 inch all the way with a nice split dump

Bosch 040 fuel pump

Rising Rate reg of some sort

Remapped ECU (not absolutely necessary but makes it safer when you are running 18 psi boost)

18 psi Boost - Don't be a pussy, the engine and everything around it can handle it as long as the tune is good and semi fat.

Total cost of around $5200 including labour.

at that stage you injectors will be 101% duty cycle and AFM practically maxed out.

so add:

gtr injectors : $300

resistor pack : $30

z32 AFM (new): $420

instalation $300 (rough)
