my 1993 r33 S1 is doing the same thing but this is what i have done

tried different fuel pump, changed fuel filter, had fuel injection flush for 9 hours, AIR Flow metre, O2 sensor, changed all my coilpacks with 2nd hand ones that have done 29000kms, changed ignitor coil, changed oil, checked for damaged rods and cams(no prob) auto electrician has checked the alternator and the regulator is fine except when he hooked up his computer on idle when it was playing up the air fuel graphs went off the chart.

he also told me not to come back because my car apparently blew up his hand held computer. luckily i had already paid the service fee and said see you later.

except my car sound like a wrx at first the goes rotary.

could be doing 100km/h and as soon as it gets to 2000rpm drops down to about 300rpm

sounding like a rotary (blip blip blip blip blip blip)

its Fu@#ed

its gotta be the computer i have changed everything else

Any thought..........................................?

shows my old coils and the arking

man 212 $ is nothin i payed $1000 for splitfires

if ya wanna run a bit of boost ya gonna need better ones

$212 each one.... x 6 = $1272 thats quite alot...

Still got the misfire. Haven't taken it back to the auto electrician yet as he wanst the car for a day or so he can check the problem when it occurs. I thought I may as well try an few things myself before pay out the $$$. I have bought some High temp Permatex silicone RTV gasket maker and covered the coils at the front below the metal down to the rubber boot as some of the guys here have suggested. WIll see how that goes in about 24hrs when it bonds properly. Heres hoping...

Hi guys I have a full set of brand new splitfire coil packs for sale $650 for GTR32 &33, R32gts-t or R33 gts-t.

which give a heaps better performance and stops the 4000-5000 popping dead in it's tracks!

Did you have any luck with that silicone? I'm maybe also developing the same problem, but it may save me hassles if i just invest in the splitfires for about $700.

Which auto electrician do you go to? I was told that the one on Gordon Ave is pretty good.

Sheez it's an epidemic. WRX noisey..grrrr. Going through this right now and need more suggestions Plse.

Severe loss of power, feeling like on 5 cylinders.

When it happend in my old GTS-T I started at the plugs, coil pack then Ignitor and finally All was good as it turned out to be the Ignitor..

Have tried everything so far in this thread on my GTR except replacing the AFM's and P_FC.

Have replaced with new plugs, coil packs, ignitor (2nd hand), injectors, fuel reg, fuel pump.

It's happening more frequently - not when the block is cool/cold, only when warm or hot 82 degrees+ (running temp).

I have started to give it a very hard rev or two with the clutch in and getting some success, but very temporary (like a few km's or so).

Resolved the Missing problem. Turns out my Ignitor and the first one I borrowed from a mates GTR to test were both Nackerd. I tried a third this morning and the problem is finally resolved. So where I started is where I ended.

I still haven't had a chance yet to get in and check tthe coil packs yet or even check the spark plug gaps. The mechanic said only one of the coils was corroded which he said he cleaned so hopefully it is only that one that is playing up. Anyone know where to get a new or second hand coil pack at a reasonable price? I priced a new one from our local nissan dealer and it was $212!! The missus will hit the roof if I had to fork out for a new set at that price!!

Cheers,

Jason.

That won't be for a set, that will be each one.

Hey thats great news that ya solved the problem. I siliconed the coils and it seemed a little smoother the next time I started the car, but then the problem reappeared pretty much straight away!. I don't know if I should just take a punt on the igniter and just buy a new one or take it back to the auto elec to isolate the problem. The stupid thing is the lat 2 times I had the car in they couldn't get it to misfire. Today I picked up some tickets in town to the Velvet Revolver concert (YEAH ROCK ON SLASH!!! :D ) and all the way back it was misfiring. Even booting the accelator couldn't get rid of it. Anyone in the Geelong area got an R32 that they can try testing their ignitor with mine?

Cheers,

Jason.

Just to add. When I checked the coils and plugs they all looked fine. No signs of wear on any of the plugs or the coils. The plugs were gapped to .8mm and are new platinum ngks. Anyhow I covered the coils at the spot suggested with that Permatex High temp silicone Gasket maker. The problem is still there and seems to happen more often when the engine is warmed up or on a hot day.

I priced an ignitor module from JMS in Adelaide. They are charging $150 plus postage. I think I will wait though until I know for sure what is causing it. The money is tight at the moment as we have just built a house and have blown the budget bigtime, plus all the XMAS bills etc etc., so unfortunately it may have to wait until after Xmas.

Cheers,

Jason.

after reading this entire thread, it is all to similar to my problem that has been happening to my rb20 det 32 for the past week or so. take it to the mechanics tomorrow to see what they say. main issue that hasnt been answered.... is it dangerous to drive it like this over a period of time?

HOORAAY!!! Finally got my R32 fixed!! Turns out the problem was a faulty ignitor module as a few people have mentioned here. Also had a faulty no3 coilpack. Gave the car a good run tonight and no problems so far woohoo! They had the car on the Dyno and I was told it was making about 125kw at the rear wheels now and is running up to 10psi boost (without a boost controller) due to the KnN Pod filter and 2.5 inch exhaust system, so overall I am very happy. Its great to have the beast back on the road. Thanks to all who helped. Special thanks to Dalton Automotive in Geelong and Phil from Leopold. Hope this helps some of you other guys.

Cheers,

Jason
