Is the left most a caster rod bush (skyline r33) - I realise the rightmost is the stab bar.

Again this time Top left corner

When I got the car inspected at UAS (top workshop BTW) they said it needed a new caster rod bush. This doesn't look too bad to me. I can't see anything else that is worn or looks like a rod. Doesn't seem to be any caster adjustment on the rod...

Any help appreciated.

Ben

Hi Ben

the wear in a castor bush is sometimes not visible, as it is subjected to force it will have excess movement if worn. Standard castor rods do not have any adjustment.Paul...DIRTgarage.

Grab a hold of the rod and pull it down, push it up and twist it. It should have very little movement. It is indeed a press fit, a 5+ tonne press is needed to remove/replace.

Hope that helps:cheers:

Hi Ben.

I'm actually about to replace these bush's on the weekend. I noticed mine were leaking (standards are filled with silicon) so i just thought i'd replace while doing the front right shocky which was rooted. I'll let you know if it makes any difference to handling when i replace them.

And yes you need a press, i tried bashing it out and no go, so it's a job for the experts to press out and in i think.

yeah dont get the oil filled ones! if you are going to someone like pedders to get these bushes they have two option, a pressed in replcement or a pressed in eccentric replace ment. definately get the eccentric ones.

- if you have a an accident an damage your steering rack this allows adjustment in your castor settings which will assist fixing this problem if your castor is all over the place

- secondly if yuo get into track work or are into track work or drift you may like to adjust your castor this is a good foundation before buying adjustable castor rods (tension rods)
