its was a awesome day...besides the fact that im peeling all over.....this is my personal recollection of the day

where do i start....

1. Busters organisational skills were exceptional....we will definately be

seeing one in the near future (rumour has it, his organising one in FEB

for his debut :innocent: )

2. Lets start with the lows....eager beaver minh in his r33 gtst which has ran

previous 12s at WSID was pumped and ready to go...with new BF drag radials

and a triple plate clutch....the first person to run on the day was also the first

casualty...third gear gone (bummer! $150 for a half tack run).....Another

unfortunate event was the pullout of Morgs in his 32 gtr (each run costing

him $75 because there seemed to be oil pressure issues dam!!)......Then there

was ON2U in the high powered supra...making sure he got his money worth...

in the first hour he got in close to 10 runs  i was lucky enough to pilot this

car down the strip twice as well (120mph with b/c switched off is bloody

impressive) unfortunatly a tailshaft let go B-arrchh!!!

Anyway thats enough greif for the day!!!

3. Fairytale = The entry of F&E's black 180sx......i had personally lined up this car

for its debut at this event with the team bending over backwards to make an

appearance......

Basically, the week starting of this drag saw this car with no head....i dont

know how many late nights they pulled but all i know was i got a call on

Thursday night at round 10pm saying they need my fat ass down there to sit in

its boot :) at 20psi the car wa making in excess of 300rwkw....unfortunatley the

single plate clutch didnt want to cop any more abuse...FRIDAY saw phone calls

to every clutch place in sydney wanting a clutch....NO LUCK...not until DRAG day

lunch time......

The morning saw the 180 putting itself up the stretch with signs of major

slippage up the track...but lunch time came and so did the clutch....approx 1 and

1/2 hours later saw a new clutch in......this also saw no slip up the track....this

then saw 11.5 at 128mph.....second run up boost to 22psi....this then saw 11.5

at 130mph....third run boost levels were wound up to 26psi....this saw a 1.8 60ft

with a 132mph reading and a ET of 10.9sec on BF DRAG radials.....FCUKING

GOOD EFFORT GUYS!!!

:jump:

4. i got to mention the MASTERCARD memorable moments ahahahahahah

First on the list would be JP from unique....geeing up all the skyline owners to

witness his first pass 11s and second pass 10s....ahahhaah he was the talk

amongst the crowd....But an awesome effort besides all the smack-talk

130mph will see some good passes out of him (10s will be a huge effort....on

RADIALS this time John just to make it intersting :)....straight line isnt all that

easy is it?)

Second, Good old JIM berry clutches were the talk of the forum prior to the meet

This is because 2rismo had invested in one....i dont know whether he still thinks

the world of them after that is his only variable since his 11.9 sec pass..... with

bigger mph all the day saw was alot of expensive rubber wasted

Third....DOughboy....PArking his GTS4 at 8am in the morning then taking my car

with Nittos in the boot that he was to use to do his daily dough deliveries,

then leaving the car at home and then having to use his tractor tyres that he

purchase to run on....There wasOne good thing he got out of it...that was he

is now able to do a burn out

AWESOME DAY!!!!!!!

    • I would paint match the whole thing to avoid unwanted attention  I had a similar bonnet, paint matched, on my old R33 GTST, but mine was a fibreglass jobbie made by Blitz in QLD, they work extremely well for radiator efficiency and under bonnet temps
    • Does anyone run this kit with factory plenum? Does the adapter and bosch tb fit under factory strut brace? I wanted to get this setup before going forward facing manifold. Thanks
    • small update time, after always wanting a "cool" looking bonnet for my car and always struggling to find one for the series 2 that i liked and wasn't an insane amount of money. Saw one i liked on RHDjapan from D-speed in Japan the price was very good for a carbon bonnet so good infact i was a little unsure how much i trusted it, decided to bite the bullet and with the help of jesse streeter in not long at all it was at my door. Once it was delivered i ran in from work and quickly unboxed it and to my surprise the quality was actually pretty good i quickly removed the old bonnet and placed on the new one to test it out and even the fitment wasnt too bad at all. Then decided to paint the little grille in the bonnet black to stop it sticking out so much.   I decided to not mess around with the hood latch and just install some aero catch hood pins, having never installed them before did some YouTube university classes and i was good to go. fair to say it is not a fun job at all from making brackets so the pins sit nicely and actually cutting through the bonnet but also being very scared of cutting the holes too big it took wayyyy longer than i would like to admit but finally got it there. Then it was time for a quick test drive to ensure the latches actually worked and thankfully the bonnet looked very stable. I still think paint matching the bonnet and leaving just the part that sticks up as carbon would help make it all look alot neater as im not sure how i feel about all that carbon on a very fridge white car but will leave it as is and see how i feel with time.
    • I think it's bound to happen, you finally get it all perfect, and bam, something will happen. I took a while to get a Commodore rear quarter repaired where a P Plater clipped it. Two days after getting it back, Sarah wiped it out on a concrete pillar in an underground car park... This is why I take forever to repair them, it stretches how long until it gets bent again... 😛
    • Nah, not really responsible for that little fiasco, but I'm still pissed at myself for writing off my 86, or when I reversed my VX into a pole just before selling it, but, meh, 5hit happens to stuff, all it takes is a slight distraction, and life is full of distractions, and "dooh" moments
