My GTR is with Gary at the moment being done. Quoted cost is $1070, but I'm going to ask for a discount as I ended up supplying my own cat as well as paying to have it fitted elsewhere.

He must run the place under a couple of different business names, cos the sign at his factory actually has the business name 'Japtralia'. Phone # is 9837 5771.

He has 3 different businesses all next to each other, he runs a spare parts shop, a compliance and Engineering shop (Lena Engineering) and a smash repair shop (Japtralia)

Hey yeah good idea - here's a couple of pics. Looks great in pictures but I think i'm gonna have to give it a respray. I was told it was in excellent condition but it seems to be far from it. That's the risk hey...

Get the paint work looked at first, might just need re-finishing. I did mine as it was pretty dull when I got it, looks a treat now. What are the problems?

i like your car mate....do u mind if i ask how much it cost you so far?

yeah as I said it looks great in pictures, but not so good close up....

It's cost me just over $10k so far.

Sounds like not much, but add on road costs, compliance, insurance, alarm, tyres, and it's around $14k

here's a couple of pics of the crappy paint...

not really on my own topic but here is the old coolant and some seriously fouled HKS plugs I pulled out today. I don't know how the car was even running...

Fark, brown coolant! is that a sign of a rusty radiator or......

Who did you get to import the car for you? was it any of the well known companies?

:cooldance

It was through prestige motorsport BUT it was a yahoo auction car I think - so prestige had no idea of the real condition of it...

So when prestige bids on the car, they never actually go and see the thing in person to verify that its not a complete flood damaged car or whatever?

So by bidding on yahoo you ran the risk of getting a car that was basically a timebomb waiting to waste your money...?

Somehow i thought it was different

oh believe me - the seller of the car has a big black mark to his name now... but there's basically not much else you can do. The car was transported straight to a shipping yard when I bought it, to await export. I had to buy this car before it could be inspected anyway, and why pay someone to inspect it when you already own it? In the end it just needs some TLC, but it wasn't what I was expecting.

Oh well, heres hoping that you won't have any really big problems with it. Otherwise you will be like me and wishing, for the money spent fixing it you could have just bought a GTR instead. :D

isn't there like 7 days before the auction ended? and if you were that keen on it surely prestige could've organised an engineer to go check it out before the end of bidding so you didn't get a lemon.

yeah my car is with Gary at lena engineering at the moment. Due to finish Wednesday next week

Dropped the car off there this arvo - Gary seemed like an alright bloke. He discussed everything with me and said it will be ready in 5 days...

Saw your grey R32 in there - he showed me the side intrusion bars he'd put in yours - looks like a good job :-)

    • I used the radium thing, makes the whole parallel assembly a lot more compact compared to any other way of doing it
    • Racetronix also sells those ethanol content sensor bypass blocks. Adapter, Flex-Fuel E85 Sensor High-Flow Bypass, In-line No Sensor (ADF-FLEX-NS): Adapters - Flex Fuel | Racetronix Ethanol content sensor are originally designed to be on the feed line. These bypass blocks are meant to be ran in the feed line and not return. The continental ethanol content sensors have a 3/8" ID and not 5/16". This is why they are ran on the return line directly in conjunction with a low threshold sampling value VS in the feed with one of these blocks.    Haha we think alike, I used both original feed/return for 8AN feed, and one of the Hicas lines as a 6AN return. I also capped off and left the other Hicas line as a spare.
    • Interesting, I haven't read about the issue with oil getting into the speedo in the cluster before. I'll have to take more notice with mine. The speedo on my R32's when I've run factory diff and tyre size have never been accurate as far as I can remember. The non Type-M GTS-t did come with 15" 5 stud wheels and smaller brakes, but that's less than 5% of them.
    • Good to hear the condenser you picked up off my brother worked all good. Do you think there could be an issue with your AC compressor itself or the clutch on it then? I don't know a lot about them so I can't really help but keen to hear what it ends up being. Keep the build thread going man, it's nice to look back on over time.
