hi ppl,

i have read in many places a quick and easy way to raise boost pressure to close to 1 bar in a gtr is to remove the restrictor in the pressure line going to the factory boost-controll solonoid..

it is apparently marked by a yellow band..

but where exactly is it?? can any1 give me exact directions to finding what i'm looking for? (left right front back top bottom.. etc etc)

its a 32gtr.

is it anywhere near the pressure hose that u tap into to run a boost guage off? does that hose lead to your BC solonoid? coz i can follow that hose but it dissapears behind the back of the engine.. ?

You will find the stock boost solinoid on the drivers side mounted on the inner skirt near the strutt tower . It has 2 black hoses going to it and a power plug , one of the hoses ( they are about 8 mm thick o/d ) has 2 yellow lines near where it goes to the solinoid , the restrictor is inside that about 20 mm from the end .

A word of warning here if you remove the restrictor and you have bigger exhaust , dump pipes or other mods it may boost a lot more than 14 psi .

If you still have the stock ceramic turbos they may let go and you could destroy your engine . Even if you don't have ceramic turbos 1.2 bar is to much boost for the stock ecu to handle , it would lean out at top revs and may blow a piston .

my boost guage shows the car is hitting about 8-10psi atm.. with no form of BC at all.. but it does have full zorst system and twin air pods...

so i migh just wait till i get a bc.. as i DEFINATELY dont wana blow anything up :)

If your boost gauge reading is right , take out the restrictor and take it for a run to see what the boost will go up to ( the higher the gear the better ) if not to high leave it out ( max 14 psi ) . I was warning you just in case you didn't have a boost gauge . Don't go on the stock boost gauge cause they are not accurate .

I can;t help you but i am also interested in this...........is this also applicable to GTSt's?

Actually, a reduction in boost will occur. The brass restrictor is inside the the hose with the 'red band', before it splits off into the T piece, coming off your upper IC pipe, the one on its way to plenumn.

ie: you'll let too much pressure 'hit' the WG actuator, therefore letting boost go!!! (this is from my excercises in this field).

If anything, restrict this pipe even further,.... if anything. (still not as good as a bleeder though. Why don't you just drill a tiny hole in the WG pipe, and experiment with other size holes with spare tubing...it's fun.

Mines at a rock-solid 11 pissants, with just a hole in WG pipe, size established by trial and error. If you're not silly, no risk. If you are, I know where you can find a new turbo/motor.

GTR's are different!!! (I believe, .........I don't own GTR........yet) :)
