I visit soooo many websites in the hunt for information and inspiration,it's only natural that I'll run into sites with only Japanese text.I'm really computer illiterate:can I download something that supports Japanese text?Or just duck down to the local 'puter supplier and buy something from Mr B. Gates that'll work straight away? For other applications, people have said "oh,just go to so-and-so's site and download this program",but it never seems that easy.Either I never find it,or the download is full of spyware,or....I'd be flat out telling you what sysem I'm on,or what a "codec" is.

Anyone want to tell me the most reliable way of viewing these pages?Oh,I already tried AltaVista's Babel Fish-it doesn't work on half the pages I want a look at.I want a program!!

Just upgrade your windows online and tick the box that says japanese text support. It should be well down the list in the language section. S&P DIRTgarage.

If you are using Mozilla firefox (version 0.10) as your web browser, then you can download an extension which puts a small icon on your browser toolbar (sits next to the "stop" and "home" buttons)

And when you get to a page displaying japanese fonts just click on the "translate" icon on your toolbar for a quick automatic conversion. the only thing is, I THINK it uses altavista, it's still a good tool tho.
