Reading an artical in SMH about police pursuits and it got me wondering.

Why are the police officers being ass pounded? Yeah I can see that if police don't pursue the w@nkers (sorry but they are!) then innocent lives wouldn't have been killed, but then again, who's to say that they would slowed down if the police weren't pursing them?

And why blame the police when the cause of the problem is the person is doing the runner from the police in the first place?

I think all the reasons are in the article there.

Mostly it's minor traffic offenses - does this justify putting peoples lives at risk?

Plus it's a policing practice issue. As it says in the article cops can't not chase people because the image is there that they're not catching crims.

Still I find it stupid when on the one hand a while ago there was some footage of a mental case holding a knife about 25m away from a cop after a 6hr standoff or whatever and some gung-ho copper decides to run him over with a squad car saying he was lunging for one of the cops - this type of copper behind the wheel of a piece of shit squad car or even a trained highway copper in a SS i wouldn't trust with a roll of toilet paper let alone a big v8 missile.

While on the other hand a while ago some junkie was doing a ram raid with a stolen rex and when the copper got there on the scene the guy got in his car and tried to run him over, the cop shot at him and wounded him and I think he got suspended when the junkie pressed charges for some bullshit reason. It's these kind of scum that need to be stopped.

You gotta balance the two methinks.

not really related but...

was in the city having dinner (if you know its in sydney - the street behind sussex street where all the chinese restaurants have their tables outdoors etc)

halfway through dinner, a police patrol car driven by two female officers drove through that street... i was like wtg? the street is packed (literally) and everyone were like sitting outside eating etc (ppl had to get up and move away from the tables to make way for the car)

not to mention the smell of exhaust fumes whilst eating!!

they couldve gotten out of the car and walked instead of driving through everyone.. wonder what would happen if they hit someone

again, not related but...

about a month or so ago, i witnessed a cop car xr8 doing an illegal u-turn (foot to the floor sideways style) on a rainy day and going out of control and drove straight into Deli France restaurant on the corner of george street and goulburn street... i think three people were injured...

whats more interesting is that the story was somehow changed to an accident involving a passenger car and a cop car causing the cop car to lose control and as a result the cop car hit those people etc.... (published in smh the next morning)

the truth is,

1. there was an accident earlier the day (many highway patrol cars/ambulances etc all gathered at the spot)

2. the scence got cleared and all the involved party were heading off

3. above-mentioned stupid cop decided to have a little fun in the xr8 on wet road... (we know sideway=good thing, but a cop doing this on a public road in front of so many people and then hitting innocent people??? )

Put it this way... cops are normal people like you and me.

I drove company cars like many other people.

Some guys wrote off company cars. When I'm in a hire or company car, I'll whip it like Devo. Shit bro... when I'm in MY car I whip it like Devo :D

Some guys and girls are cowboys - they can't let things slide, the accelerator is an on/off switch.

If some people see an apparent injustice, they'll pursue it to the very end.

ergo. you guy some cowboy cops who'll defect you for everything... follow you for half an hour for you to mess up... beat you senseless or perjure themselves.

And you'll get cops who'll do a high speed pursuit for a relatively minor offense.

Why? Because they feel less manly if they let it slide.

It's cultural. The Americans are even worse.

T.
