Pics of Millenium Motorsports dyno day 6/11/04

Recommended Posts

my passage made 142.5rwkw and 330ftlb torque.

gotta get my intercooler piping done properly and not completely botched up by 1000 misc pipings and connectors :) waaay too restrictive for the t3/t4 turbo... i was hoping for the 160-170rwkw mark, but yeah :(

still does 13's :(

was a good day...came in a bit late but its all good,..saw some cars from SAU...the white GTR which im pretty sure from MELV..must say...AWESOME car,.would have stayed to see it go on the dyno but had to head back to sunny coast for work.

also saw MSP51 which i believe was Erins...my car was silver R33 GTST the one with the GT stripes on it.

Just bought the car not very long ago..wanted to see how much power it has and was quite happy..although i expected more he he.

done 156rwkw set on 8 psi

only known mods were 3in catback,.trust front mount and hks pod.--> seriously have no idea what other mods the car has..that's all i know---> FOR NOW.

and its time for an upgrade.

that's a good power figure for 8psi i think personally.

GTR man give carlos from millenium a call on 3348 2755 and tell him you saw it in the dyno day pics and wanted more information on it. I'm pretty sure he refills them and he has the setup on his supra so he would know the costs.

Some power figures for the day

Neil in his black rb20det 180sx 190rwkw

Stu in his white sr20det 180sx 192rwkw

josh in his white sr20det sil80 190rwkw

Mase in the povvo onevia rb20det 141rwkw with a fuel/air ratio of 10.2 rich rich

Melv in his white GTR 307rwkw

jaqule in his blue 33???

nismo 33 in his grey r33 156rwkw

chick in a Silver Supra 295rwkw

Red r33 built by hardcore performance rb25det 421rwkw's on the giggly juice

Chris sr20det green silvia 133rwkw's with air/fuel in low 10's

Scotty in champaigne 180sx sr20det 135 with similar air/fuel

Honda Accord with vtec engine upgrade 101fwkw's (almost put rwkw!!!)

Beannie in his r31 passage 142rwkw's (you just beat me you bastard!!!! :)) (air/fuel issues also)

Clint in his s15 pulled 163rwkw's

Overall the dyno day was great but showed quite a lot of us that we need to look at aftermarket fuel management if we want to see some decent gains due to some really rich air/fuel mixtures.

Few boys found out they were running very lean also, which may have saved them a lot of dosh down the track.

mase how accurate is that dyno? u reckon??

i always was estimating my power to be anywhere from 160-180rwkw, and to pull only 142 i was disapointed.

yet people i've been speaking to have been saying that if im doing a 13.71 @104mph 1/4mile time, then i should be putting out about 180rwkw to even pull the weight of the passage along to that time. also worked out it was 142rwkw and 447nm torque... thats alot of torque for so little 'power' isnt it???

whats everyone elses thoughts?

beannie, your power figure was severely detremented by your fuel mixture. Maybe seeing as we cleaned your afm, the computer hadn't readjusted itself or something and you were running richer than normal????

If the dyno was reading low by around 20-30rwkw's then neil would have pulled a 220rwkw's. Is this possible on stock injectors???

With the boost you were running and your fuel mixture, i'd say that would be a good contribution to your lower power figure, but on the other hand, i do think the results may have been slightly lower (talking 10rwkw's max) than a few others around.

Just my thoughts anyway.

cheers for the pics guys

neil has pulled 220rwkw according to a post he made about the car...somewhere, ive seen it ... maybe not these forums, dunno... but yeah..

i might take it to a dyno dynamics dyno at a different place for a '2nd opinion' and see what i get... but honestly, i personally think its impossible for me to get a 13.71 pass on only 140rwkw in a car that weighs almost 1500kg :) we'll see...

Keeping in mind it is a dynologics dyno and not a dynonamics dyno.

They read differently. For instance, I got 198rwkw on matty spry's dyno and then went to all star tuning at northside somewhere and got 168rwkw.

So you figures were in comparison to everyone else on the day.

Twas me :) Just a question, what do those japanese characters on the back of you car mean?

Those Japanese writings means " Japanese women are hot " or rather " Asian chicks are hotter " --> something like that.

sweet hey ?

I don't actually have a 220rwkw dyno sheet, that's just an estimate based on past tunes at PITS and other people's power there. My boost was down 1.5psi from the last time i had it dynoed as well. However i have run 114.6mph which is well above what 191kw could run.

    • Hi guys, has anyone either purchased or built themselves a rotisserie for their car before? I can only just justify the need for one hence why I should just make one but at the same time, if I make one I can kiss another 4 weeks of potentially productive car working time goodbye because I'm building a bloody rotisserie....  I mainly want it for the application of the body deadener.  Cleaning the old stuff off, priming and then colour over the deadener doesn't worry me, it's just the application using the Schutz Gun that I feel would achieve a significantly better finish painting it side on and keeping the Schutz Gun upright.  I don't think they would work well on the side let alone almost upside down for some areas.  If the product I use (Terosun, etc) could work through a HVLP ok then it might be ok to apply without the rotisserie.   I can get one of these style ones for about $1200 which is pretty good value-     I reckon if I made one it would cost around $500 but it's more the time that it would take is more of a killer than the cost.  They look to hold their value pretty well second hand so I could always sell it after using it and realistically only lose $200-$300 at worst.  Or keep it and buy another project when this one finally sees the light of day... Anyone selling one...? Cheers!
    • While it is a very nice idea to put card style AFMs into the charge pipe (post intercooler, obviously), the position of the AFM and the recirc valve relative to each other starts to become something that you really have to consider. The situation: The stock AFM is located upstream the turbo, and the recirc valve return is located between the AFM and the turbo inlet, aimed at the turbo inlet, so that it flows away from and not through the AFM. Thus, once metered air is not metered again, neither flowing forwards, or backwards, when vented out of the charge pipe. When you put the AFM between the turbo outlet and the TB, there is a volume of pressurised charge pipe upstream of the AFM and there is a volume of pressurised pipe downstream of the AFM. When the recirc valve opens and vents the charge pipe, air is going to flow from both ends of the charge pipe towards the recirc valve. If the recirc valve is in the stock location, then the section between it and the TB doesn't really matter here - you're not going to try to put the AFM in that piece of pipe. But the AFM will likely be somewhere between the intercooler and the recirc valve, So the entire charge pipe volume from that position (upstream of the AFM, back through the intercooler, to the turbo outlet) is going to flow through the AFM, get registered as combustion air, cause the ECU to fuel for it, but get dumped out of the recirc valve and you will end up with a typical BOV related rich spike. So ideally you want to put the AFM as close to the TB as possible (so, just upstream of the crossover pipe, assuming that the stock crossover is still in use, or, just before the TB if an FFP is being used) and locate the recirc valve at the turbo outlet. Recirc valve at the turbo outlet is the new normal for things like EFRs anyway. In the even of a recirc valve opening dumping all the air in the charge pipe, pretty much all of it is going to go backwards, from the TB to the recirc valve near the turbo outlet. But only a small portion of it (that between the TB and the AFM) will pass through the AFM, and it will pass through going backwards. The card style AFMs are somewhat more immune to reading flow that passes through them in reverse than older AFMs are, so you should absolutely minimise the rich pulse behaviour associated with the unavoidable outcome of having both a recirc valve and an AFM in the charge pipe.
    • Yep, in my case as soon as I started hearing weird noises I backed off the tension until it sounded normal again. Delicate balance between enough tension to avoid that cold start slip and too much damaging things.
    • I'm almost at a point where I feel like changing the alternator. Need to check the stuff you mentioned first though.
