CC if it still has the factory turbo oil feed line then there is a high chance that it's cracked somewhere. if it's a braided aftermarket one, it's possible one of the fittings has come loose, or was not assembled properly. oil feed will not be too hard to replace. get one made of stainless braid covered extruded teflon hose. I did on my SR20, and felt much better knowing that it was there.

Yeah man I can't get over how cool those guys are. When I called their shop on Tuesday (public holiday) I think it diverted to David's house. He arranged for Grahame to come down to open the shop for me so my car wouldn't sit outside all by itself.

He had to move a truck outta the way and unlock the whole place to let my baby in on the hoist. It's gonna sit there while they paint.

Thanks R - that's what I thought, the fittings had gone but I looked and felt both ends and they seemed to be sitting in securely and wound up. When the engine was running oil was just beading on the line but didn't seem to be wet on either end near the fittings. :confused:

Anyway the agenda for my car at the moment is.

1. fix oil leak

2. full wheel alignment

3. fit ARC sump (more oil wee!)

4. fix couple of exhaust rattles

5. weld in oil catch breather to air inlet (engineering requirement)

6. fix up some lose lines that go to nowhere re: carbon canister (engineering requirement)

7. change mech diff oil

8. engine oil+filter change (due to #1 and #3)

And I'll probably go back to ask them to

1. change sparkies

2. change fuel filter

3. install my rear camber arms (depending how much)

4. fix the damn leak now that I've found it (depending how much)

5. look over it for engineering/look over it for shonkiness (depending how much and if I'm not too scared)

6. put in an extra exi-mani stud that was never there

7. put in pineapples

8. weld the tailshaft supports (nark's thingy)

While I know they'll bill me reasonably I'm scared to think.

Anyone wanna sponsor me some cams and/or EBC? :)

Damn cc you are still having a hell of a time with it. Im going to get them to do my exhaust, need to get it quieter. They really seem like good blokes.

No one should be sponsering you for anything! you already have more power then me I need to catch up!

Woot latest update:

Cromer Exhausts re-opened today and they said NO PROB car should be ready by Saturday easy.

That's including everything on that list EXCEPT nark's tailshaft solution. I'm going to go back for that because by the time I get them pictures and stuff and talk it over with the engineer I won't make it for the cefiro dyno day.

**** me they have good service. Thanks Grahame what a legend.

(Hopefully I won't be selling a liver or whoring my ass any more than usual to pay for it.)

Also I'm waiting to see how the car will go with the camber kit and pineapples installed.

Any thoughts on the pineapple setting? I'm thinking of having all bushes installed on top so it's rigid but not ridiculous drifty or ridiculous squaty.

They just told me my rattle (the one I thought was near the cat that I couldn't see) was the inside of the cat ha ha (need a new one).

So adding a hi-flow cat to that list above :P

Funny thing is, I think I know when it happened. Must have been when I was on the way there the first time and ended up driving the car in limp mode to their garage with all the flames flying out the back. I think that must have gutten the insides of the cat haha.

I hope this ain't gonna be too expensive :Paranoid:

Unfortunately mine has little to no oil in it so can't/shouldn't be started otherwise I'd say you can hear mine run and see how you like the resonator they put on my car.

It's still a little loud but not as loud as it was before. If I hit the lottery I'll be getting a full J-brand exhaust for that idling raspiness/breathing and full throttle insanity.

Right now I'm not happy with the way it sounds (sounds kinda like all the doof-doof sick lancers with the exhausts :) ) but I'd say that has more to do with the poo cannon it has (x force or copy).

Cool. They called me yesterday and said I won't be needing a new cat. Sweet. Apperantly the heat shield just fell off or something and was causing rattling.

Turns out my oil leak was that the inside of turbo oil feed braided line had detached or something - which would explain why I thought it was beading on there but couldn't see the source.

I did drop off some pineapples and rear camber kit to them however.

While I was there I checked up on what they were upto-

Just got back from Cromer... Fantastic bunch of guys!!

Turns out I need a new rear muffler (mine is too small and trashed on the inside) and might need a mid muffler depending on what happens with the new rear. Im definitely booked in for Monday. So ill be loud on the dyno :mad:

Ok.

They did all my stuff my car was ready today (friday). I figure it ran outta rego so I'll drive it straight from cromer exhaust to procar for the dynoday since it's on the same road.

Final cost I think was $700 and supposedly they couldn't do the wheel alignment because they "didn't have specs". Whatever that means.

I'm not too sure I'm still impressed with them until I get explanation as to what they mean by SPECS??

Either way it cost a bit more than I'd hoped, I'm sure they did a great job but since it was mostly lotta little things but I don't see them being QUITE that much worth of time - what's everyone else think? Am I being unrealistic as to what mechanics charge? (I was hoping for about $500).

    • No intention of driving the car the way it's set up now, just wanting to make sure I haven't made any mistakes along the way so that the tune can go smoothly, I don't want to waste anyone's time with stupid issues. And of course I intend to get it towed to the dyno in a completed state 😅 I have the base fuel pressure with the vacuum disconnected set at about 40psi, which I believe is at least relatively close to stock fuel pressure, maybe I'll have a fiddle with the reg and see what happens. For all I know I could be wasting my time with this and I should just plumb it in and see what the tuner reckons. I just find it a bit strange that it seems to be under so much load just free revving, but maybe that's just a result of the turbo slowing down the exhaust gasses and making a restriction in the flow, with no boost to compensate.
    • The boy just hit up google translate and it worked a treat, he said step one was "please urinate with precision and elegance", he then sent me the correct translation  I get some new loctite for the small fixtures tomorrow and get some "dort" going after that 🤣
    • Right, so is the fuel pressure the same as it was previously? If not, well, it's not going to work well. I can understand the theory I assume you are going for, which is: "Run it N/A, and if I have the original AFM, and same amount of fuel and intake air as previously, the fact there's a turbo in my exhaust should still make it run" Which it... might? Provided you don't actually change how much air or fuel is going into the car.. or getting out. But if you have changed that, all bets are off. What is the purpose to even have the car run this way? To get it to a tuner? And if the goal is to limp it to a tuner, you're still going to what - plumb up a whole intercooler system and new intake in the parking lot out front before your tune......?
    • Haha yea it's a bit of a weird setup at the moment, just wanted to make sure I sorted out any headaches before dyno day. At the moment I've changed the exhaust manifold, turbo and downpipe, 460lph fuel pump and rising rate reg as well as the previously mentioned headstuds and gasket. The nistune was already mapped for the car as it was and drove around for a few months no worries. The plan is to run flex fuel hence the big pump, which I've wired direct to the battery through a relay to avoid voltage issues.
    • Um. Was the ECU the same as the one previously there? I know R33's needed R32 GTST ECU's or other tomfoolery to run Nistune. This is such a wild setup. Most people would plumb in the turbo then not drive the car (i.e tow it to a tuner). What's actually changed since it last ran?
