ive been stiffed!

Wife picked up our new Stagea RS4 4WD on wednesday in Auckland

was looking forward to having a play this weekend when I arrived from Christchurch on friday , she picked me up from the airport, looked stunning (the car that is!!) interior amazingly good (the car that is), oh and the wife was driving

straight away noticed, no button on the dash to lock the 4WD wheels....

oh dear i thought

got home, got a torch (it was midnight) looked under the front of the car

DOH!

no drive to the front, its a RWD CAR!!!!!!!!!!!

didnt sleep a wink all night friday !!

foot to the floor back to the dealer - had to play it cool to see if they stiffed us, or they had been stiffed themselves.........

me "ive got a problem with the 4wd on the car..you know much about 4wd cars?"

sales guy :"no apart from yours is supposed to be a good one.."

me:"is it - because it isnt one"

sales guy "?"

me "its a standard car with an rs bodykit, badges and interior, rwd"

sales guy "?"

off he pops in the car then takes a look underneath, tells us he needs to speak to his boss and he'll contact us asap.

contacted us sunday wanting the car back !

didnt tell us what he was going to do for us,

didnt tell us we could have our money back,

told us we'd get a hire car instead!

so, we've been stiffed, we have to give the car back without getting any money or compensation back, and we get to drive around in a crappy hire car - NO WAY !

wife just wants the money back and no negotiation, which means we'll just hire a car anyway and have to spend next weekend looking for another car !!!!!!!!

man this sucks!

any advice would be most welcome!

Yes Croydon's are good guys. I know of a Stagea for sale privately which I Pm's you about via the SDU forums. If you are interested give me a call. I'm not selling it but I know it's not advertised as yet. Know it's condition is good and Auckland based. RS4 V twin sunroofs etc. Higher Km's though.

Couple of things need tidying inside, but general interior is very good cond, exterior is damned good and straight.

hey Saft, any luck on those prices as yet? My ride is sounding too quiet hard to hear it running when I turn it off and wait for the Turbo timer to run it's course. Shame Selca alarms don't incorporate the turbo timer into the system.

What is the model code on the firewall plate for the car you have/had? According to your sig it is a WGNC34 - is this exactly what the plate says?

If so then it *should* be 4wd, the 'N' in the code signifies the 4wd drive train. Unless for some really odd reason the car has been converted to RWD at some point, son of rajab knows why but I guess anything is possible!

Also what engine does it have - RB25DE or DET? Again according to your sig you say DE, but I thought all RS4's were turbo (ie DET)?

Congratulations, You have won the lottery.

You have them cold, they sold you a car that wasn't what you paid for. You could sue their asses for heaps, erroneous representation, misleading practise, taking money under false pretencces, FRAUD is the most common word used.

I would definitely get another Stagea RSFour of them, you WILL get the best one money can buy. They WILL sell it to you for no profit, so you will either get some money back or a better/newer/lower K's one for the same price.

I can imagine how pissed you would have been when you looked under the car and noticed it was missing a few parts

I agree with Sk threaten them with a lawsuit. Tell them youre going to talk to the police and your lawyer. Also I dont know what its called in NZ but we have something called the Ministry For Fair Trading department whom investigate these sorts of things and can teake away a dealers licence and fine them $$$ so maybe mention to them you are planning on making a call to them unless they are willing to get you the car that they promised you in the same or better condition with same or less k's on it.

You are the one with all the rights here and if I were you I would tell them that until they get you a new car youre keeping the one you have at the moment as its their fault.
