I had my house done over today and during that they went into the garage with my keys and alarm and went through my car. It must have been kids as they searched my glovebox and centre console, but of course no valuables in there. Luckily they didnt damage the car but they took the keys.

So im wondering would i need a complete new set of locks??? How do i get a key cut from nothing, through Nissan or a locksmith? I suppose i can take out the boot barrel lock. Just hopefully they wont come back for the car, ive dissabled it just in case. I might see if i can get the frequency for the alarm changed as well.

do everything you can to make sure your car aint gonna move, or leave it at somebody elses place until you get new locks asap. thats how my first 33 was stolen, broke into house took keys and car, but thats what they were after. you're going to want a new set of locks, there are car locksmith places that specialise in this. we had every lock changed in another car the day after the line was stolen because they pinched other keys too.

if i were you id park another car behind it to ensure they cant come along and put it on a flatbed late one night when youre asleep. ALso call a car locksmith asap as has already been suggested. Also ring the alarm place and get the alarm repropgrammed as quick as you can.

once they have your keys there is nothing easier for them to do than walk up get in and drive away. so make it as hard as possible for them to do so.

oh btw might be an idea to get a second set of keys and hide them somewhere they arent easy for a criminal to find.

Ive taken out the bootlock and getting a key made up at the moment. Then i will get the alarm re-programmed. A car is parked in front of the garage during the night, but this was during the day when the car was gone. I dont particularly think they where after the car, they where looking for valuables inside it, but better to be safe than sorry.

how come you left your keys at home? ALWAYS CARRY THEM WITH YOU or hide them in a bloody good spot!!!

We had some .. *cough* locals.. break into our house once and we were fitting a GZE engine into my gf's corolla so we had the key sitting on a kitchen shelf. They worked out this key was for the car so instead of taking just the digital camera's etc they started loading up our whole entertainment system. Luckily they were interrupted and only took of with my speakers and the car broke down 2 km's down the road because we hadn't put all the gearbox link pins in so we were lucky there. One bonus though is they must have thrashed it so hard the supercharger started working, it didnt work when we put the cut in :D

Since then I always have my keys with me no matter what and my spare set stays at my sisters house.
