I got a standard series 2 a year ago.

check my signature for the mods and the increase in hp.

The exhaust cost $700 from quikfit in morley.

$25 pod filter from A-Spec in Murray Street, car had a hks poisonous mushroom with brackets, so didn't need to buy those, but easily $50 for brackets.

next mod safc2 which should hopefully hit the 250 mark and then a fmic, but thats not really needed.

thinking of a bleed valve aswell, but thats not that important, i'm not here to put out big figures, just have an enjoyable car :D

its worth getting the newer, although stock car as the mods on the 1994 car arent worth that much as u can see in Jason's post above.. not like the 94 GTST has rebuilt engine, big turbo etc..

just make sure u dont make the same mistake as Jason tho.. or u will end up with a purple interior.. lol joking... i lurrvee it

haha you whore'rs, hope u noticed that kenhuang thinks you're all a bunch of whiners and whingers cos he hasnt replied after posting the first thread :D

but yeh... back to the point, i rekkon either the 94 or the 96 skylines, probably the first one cos it's done less kms and done up already. dont like the 180 cos the front's just too frickin' long.

lately it seems that conflicting views arent allowed on SAU.. im not talking abt this thread in particular, but generally speaking, that seems to be the way its going and a lot of the people who have been here for years are driven away bcoz of this..........................

I'll second that

:D I'm glad someone else is getting their ass chewed instead of me.

Of the 3, the Series 2 for me

1994 skyline black

Pioneer CD player, Turbosmart Type III Blow off Valve, Apexi AVC-R Boost Controller, HKS Air Filter, Lowered RSR Springs, Full 3" Exhaust System, Near New Tyres, Genuine Skyline Floor Mats (Front & Rear). . 83000kms

px=$17000

or a series 2 skyline 1996 fully stock 88000kms at $19000 grand

or a nissan 180sx, front mount full exhaust sound system 55000kms $15000

really need help...also are they at good px?

the paintwk the 1996 one is better by the way with an auction grade 4.

if can post reply to

i will really appreciate ur help

Firstly, dont buy any car without inspecting it first - if a car is cheap, 9 chances out of 10 there is a good reason for it. Think whether you would sell a car at alot less than its worth?

I think you need to decide what you want from the car - 33s and 180s are different platforms.

Also, sorry to throw a curveball, but if you are looking at spending 15K on a 180 with minimal mods - take a look at the S14. 5 stud brakes, with larger calipers, more powerful engine (variable cam on inlet), interior is nicer, and if you get an aussie delivered one insurance will be alot cheaper.

Good luck with your choice.

All tastes and looks aside, you would have to go for the 180sx at 15k, should be able to get it for around 14k (could take 1k of most of the advertised prices) that leaves you 6k (going on 21k budget) to fix most of the things you dont like about (rims body kit etc etc) and to spend on brakes (4 pots fit easy) and seats (ugh stock s13 seats) THen money left over to spend on ecu injectors and turbo and it would easily be the fastest of the 3. However ive seen you post these on another forum and believe you should be making the decision yourself rather then ask what you should buy, drive them, give em some stick choose the one YOU like to own and drive. What another person thinks of your car should matter very little.

ps, top end matters bulk on the street and on the track :)

    • Thanks, plan is to drain all fluid tomorrow and do smoke test to find out the leak.   Appreciate your help and want to understand how the system work. So cooling is achieved by the long loop not any rad? The diagram seems to suggest it connects to somewhere inside the cabin and I thought that is a cooler inside firewall. If you look at the diagram it seems to show it connects to something inside firewall. I tried chasing it but not easy unless I take loads off   i am confident pump is good as fluid goes in and it gets soft( steering) but as soon as I turn engine off , loads of bubble come to surface and overflow. When engine is on , fluid level is below minimum but when off it shoots off and thinking it is sucking air in. I suspect aluminium pipe may have a crack line or whole   smoke test with no fluid should be a good start and if needed will remove the pump   In addition, the one going under the engine bay is high pressure line and one directly connecting from pump to resorvoir is return/ low pressure?   finally I searched and suggestion is to use dexron 2 but that is discontinued so bought dexron 3 as all research suggest it is compatible and shouldn’t cause any issues/ blow seals. I bought two liter of dexron 3 motul atf
    • Don't worry about. Just don't try to drive hard enough to make boost and you'll be fine.
    • Yes. This has already been said. It is a loop of hardline in front of the radiator. Because.... the pump is on the LHS and the steering rack hydraulic connections are where they always are on a RHD steering rack....on the RHS. The high pressure line goes down under the engine, along the crossmember, like it does on all Skylines. Don't just throw expensive braided hoses/other kits at it. Work out what is wrong and fix that.
    • Still got the afm on the intake, clamps are shut tight, only loose hose is the one that goes from the j pipe towards the IACV, since it's next to impossible to find a factory hose and the barbs are different sizes (I'm still using clamps on this hose to try and help it seal on the iacv side) I've ordered parts to make up the hotside of the intercooler pipes, I'll plumb it in and see what happens in a few days I suppose The turbo's internally gated, can I just unscrew the tension rod to let the gate open?
    • Did this ever go further ? Would love some updated info
