|PRESA|
I recently removed my rocker covers for a clean and coat of high temp. paint, I've put it back all fine from what I can see but here is the problem.. While the turbo is spooling I can clearly hear the turbo sucking in air (Good ol' pod filter) but I can hear a strange and unique sound similar to an air leak or soft buzzing eg. zzzzzz It's completely diffrent sound compared to the turbo spooling. I've checked the cooler pipes and all necessary hoses for any leaks but couldn't find anything. I noticed at high revs I'm laking power, especially in second gear. All I can think of is there some kind of air leak? If anyone can help it would be much appriciated, i just want to see if I can fix this problem before I take it to the only mechanic I trust which is a good hour away. Many Thanks Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/55482-help-while-turbo-is-spooling/ Share on other sites
Blue32
try the turbo to exhaust manifolds nuts for tightness - could be the exhaust-turbo gasket buzzin (sounds like a dying rabbit) inbetween the joint. Pretty common especailly if it happens as turbo builds boost (more pressure in manifold!) Sydneykid
Hmmm, cam covers off, then it makes noise.....sounds like the PCV valve or the cam cover breather pipes are not connected properly. That would be my first guess. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/55482-help-while-turbo-is-spooling/#findComment-1081754 Share on other sites
|PRESA|
Thank you for your help but... Where are these located exactly? Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/55482-help-while-turbo-is-spooling/#findComment-1081908 Share on other sites
Sydneykid
Thank you for your help but...Where are these located exactly? Cam covers, you took them off to paint them. Skylines don't have rockers, so no "rocker covers", they have "cam covers". There is one pipe between the cam covers. There is one pipe that goes to the inlet after the AFM and before the turbos. There is a third pipe the goes to the inlet plenum. The PCV valve is on the side of the RHS (drivers) cam cover, the hose goes from it to another fitting on the inlet plenum. Check those 3 hoses and their clamps:cheers: Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/55482-help-while-turbo-is-spooling/#findComment-1081976 Share on other sites
