SK That looks great! Good work with the scoop for the stock snorkel and the temperature research too!!

Have you got a template? As I wouldnt mind one of these, but my stagea did not come with the stock air box, just a K&N pod so wouldnt mind just cutting and bending one up?

SKA

I'll do a group buy soon to get them made up to be all spot on and uber shiney!

I've got a similar one going at the moment for the R34 GTT.

Once that's done, I'll get into this one if you like.

Give me a week to organise.

Well the current R34 GTT versions are $80 including packing for transport.

With the extra bending and little guides they might be a little bit more, but not a great deal. Might have to get them all bent, then fabricated with the scoop, but when I get SKs sample, I'll decided the best way to do it.

Cheers

I wonder how much extra it would cost to get them cast out of carbon fiber looking material. I know someone who had there floors in his R33 done in carbon fiber looking stuff that was moulded to shape. I think he said someone who works or deals with boats and repairs can do it. Just an idea, maybe too expensive?

Carbon Fibre = expensive.

You have to make up a mold and then lay on the CF and it takes time to set and blah blah blah.

Uber pricey

Question Time. Will this unit fit the Series II, and what about something in black (plastic?) similar to what EMANUELT has made up?

I can anodise the Aluminum ones black if you like.

In fact, when I finish the mods to my R34 GTT guide, I'm going to anodise is either natural silver, or black.

Sounds good Bass, post some pics when done so we can see the finish surface.

Emanualt

have you got pics of your plastic version?

As you can see these current pics, the black plastic has lost its nice plack look from cleaning chemicals so not sure if its the best material, also when the bonet is fully closed it pushed on the air deflector, maybe it need to be slightly lower somehow.

Also the scoop in grill is made from sheet metal and painted black, it all could be designed better but it will do for now.

Yep it's too high that's why the bonnet ribbing rubs on it. I found I had to have longer right angle brackets (where the bolts go). So it sits lower at the rear. I also found it was better to have a greater than 90 degree angle in the brackets. Around 110 degrees pushes the front down a bit and the bonnet ribbing doesn't touch it now. But it is still close.

:) cheers ;)

Seriously I dont think I'll be interested, not at this point in time.

But if SydneyKid wouldnt mind sending me the design I wouldnt mind having a go at bashing one out for myself, as I have access to a metal workshop and heaps of scrap metal, it'd give me something to tinker with, I would not plan to start making these en masse or making them for anyone else for that matter.

So how about it, may I get a copy of the design and measurments please?

Sorry too late, the masters are on their way to Bass to be used for templates. The pictures are pretty good, you should be able to duplicate it from them.

;) cheers :D

  • 5 months later...

I have had a few questions on the design of the Group Buy deflector and the inlet air scoop, so I thought it would be best to have this thread appear on the current page.

:P cheers :O
