Well there are OSX drivers on their download pages, so my guess is yes

http://www.xenarc.com/download.html. I also see they have released a DIN version this year.

I was tempted by the Alpine touchscreens, but I want to run a Car PC of some shape eventually and an OEM solution is a bit restrictive (VGA > TV In). The Mini looks very good, but it expansion is a little limited. Maybe Mini2 will be more appropriate :(

Pentae - im not too worried about maintenance and parts(except if engine blows up heard thats very expensive) im just worried about money for importing as i have never imported a car.I ve always been looking out for a GTRs ever since i played GT as a kid lol i have a rx7 atm but i have figured instead of trying to gain hp by adding turbo etc etc i will buy a GTR

as for investment property that will come much later down the road when i need a place to park the GTR lol

With the price of 17" LCD screens down to the $300 mark for a good quality one.. you would think a 7" would be $100 by now :( Pity they're not quite down to that level.

Most import dealers can sell HICAS compatible kits, for much less than most of the big name supercheap, autobarns, etc

Mark, What are you doing to your car next?

Well I'm about 3 months behind Lucien and Gordon, and just ahead of you.... :P

Changed brake lines to the Maltech braided ones. Changed brake fluid.

Have DBA rotors sitting on the garage floor. Have caliper overhaul kit (seals +springs) on the garage bench. Still trying to find gearbox oil. Waiting (4 weeks so far) for Hankook K104s.

Then I'm going to have a go at covering the pod filters with an alum box.

So, I've barely stretched the cars legs cause I have a few things to do first! Between working full-time, studying part-time, two kids and no relos (read: babysitters) within 300kms, it's slow going

What's on your list??? It IS your thread after all :)

Ryosuke, I've just imported three cars from Japan- two GTRs and a Bentley. When deciding to purchase remember that shipping will cost b/w $1-1.5k, insurance for shipping (total loss only) is b/w $2-300, customs, cleaning, customs agent fees etc will total about 25% of the cost of the vehicle. Compliance will vary depending on how many modifications need to come off, and how long it takes to remove them. The more standard the car the less compliance is - say $1-1.5k. If the car needs to go to the crash shop, say undercarrige damage due to poor forklifting, this adds another $800-1100. A visit to the local govt transport dept and stamp duty, rego, and insurance come next. Finally your car will need a service replacing all filters, fluids, spark plugs etc, and a tune up.

As a % the Bentley ended up costing 60% over the cost opf the car to get it on the road. I don't have a final figure for the GTRs as one goes in to have its goodies reinstalled and serviced today, and tuned on Friday. The other is at the compliance shop.

I reasons for the delivery delays were that both GTRs were built in Nov 1989 and not eligible for import until Nov last year. As this was so close to Jan 1st 2005, I decided to wait for the import tax to drop from 15% to 10%. Alot of other people had the same idea and shipping places were difficult to get. Neither GTRs a/c had been degassed (despite the fact that I had paid for this) and the dept of environment and hereitage held back each GTR for 4 weeks while the appropriate paperwork was completed. And then there were problems with compliance. Certainly has tested my patience... and my wallet (which I believe may have an eating disorder as its been thinning so rapidly)

Sorry for continuing on the HICAS question.

I've recently recieved my R32 GTR and same as Pentae, I've never seen the light come on except when you first switch on the electrics.

When is it suppose to go on? when you do a tight circle? I just presumed it was working since my turning circle wasn't that bad.

Its only meant to come on when there is an error, so be pleased you don't have the light ;)

LW.

The HICAS thing is very interesting. I have spent hours trawling through all the information on here that I can about HICAS through searching for just that keyword.

What blows me away is the HICAS "plate" on the boss kit I bought, code: ON-115 is set up so the white pins insert at the 12 oclock, six oclock position.

But on my stock steering wheel it is set up as 2 oclock, 7 oclock. Which is how it is on the ON-110 boss kit, that Lucien has. (Theres a diagram on the box that shows them, I will get a picture of this for anyone else that finds this thread looking for HICAS info)

I have had not had any noticeable problems with the steering, but when I threw the car into HICAS diagnostics mode, I did get an error, but I am not sure what code its for (havent spent much time on it yet tbh).. yet i get no HICAS light.

I am pretty sure its the speed sensor, or the cable to it (is it no. 54?) because I am having some problems with the speedometer at the moment which can be read about here:

pentae mate, you definately have the wrong boss. like lucien said the pins should not be a 12 and 6.

Mark: I would love to see what you come up with airbox wise. I've now turfed my HKS pods and put on a set of Apexi ones. much nice, but a bit more space consuming. i too put on my brake lines last week (nismo ones for me though ;))

Sorry I haven't got back to you with the model number for the boss: its down the road and I just haven't had time. Hopefully get to it tomorrow.

Richard: considered a Pipercross pod? Quite expensive from what I hear, but SydneyKid seems to like them. Plus the distributor is in Lakemba.

whats local govt transport and stamp duty how much do they cost...as for compliance...couldnt i do it myself? like its putting the seat belts fuel fill, side intrusion bars etc...and what is that SEVS scheme...this is all so confusing....would it be recommended tryint to take this matter in your own hands or import though a well known company?

since I've had the car I've replaced the old HKS pods for brand new ones, then removed them and put on brand new apexi ones. I'm pretty happy with the Apexi ones, I just want to enclose them in a box with a CAI. it's amazing how quickly intake temps shoot up once you are not moving (stuck in traffic for instance).

Woohooo! I Finally got the HICAS light to come on.

After driving down the freeway for 10-20 minutes it just appeared. My car isnt stupid after all ;)

I'm taking the boss kit back to autobarn and swapping it for the ON-110 tommorow. I am assuming the Super HICAS 12 oclock six oclock r32 GTR's must be a vspec thing...

Ok,

Again apologies for the delay. My car is stored in a secure lockup a few minutes from my house and I don't drive it everyday. The boss kit packaging is in the lockup hence the delay.

Anyhoo, I can confirm the ON-110 is the correct model:

I bought mine from Autobarn Auburn ($119.00). According to the receipt, the description is:

"* PE05868 BK190L BOSS KIT SUPER ON177"

Update:

The car has been registered for a while now,

- Alpine Touchscreen has been installed, it rocks!

- Correct boss kit is installed, Yeah!! Thanks LW.

3.5" Muffler and 3" GTR twin dumps arrived today, I will put some pics up tomorrow.. :D

The 3.5" Muffler is actually a Truck Muffler and cost $200.

The Twin Dumps are stainless steel and cost $700.. couldnt really find a better price on the dumps. They are just the dumps, not the pipes. Have I paid too much?

Pics coming soon :)
