JULZA
Does anyone know where I can get a aftermarket performance computer chip for an R33 GTST? Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/55518-where-can-i-get-an-r33-performance-chip/ Share on other sites
raist60
If they do exist for skylines (which i dont think they do) they arent worth buying anyway. No-one can make a generic "Powerchip" to provide a good gain on many cars with many different combinations of mods. Save your cash and get an SAFC or even better yet a PowerFC. Also if this is your first mod(s), go for exhaust / pod / cooler upgrades first Do it right dude, and dont believe chip marketting b/s. Revhead
The R33 ECU is not 'chippable' as such. The easiest way is to get a PowerFC, but if you're after a cheaper alternative, you can retrofit an R32 ECU (which is rechippable) and have that retuned. That's my understanding anyway, I just bought a PowerFC because one came up at the right price, and I'd just bolted up a new turbo. And yes, stay away from off-the-shelf hot up chips. morlock
If you can't afford a powerfc and don't wish to heavily modify your R33 then look at some of the interceptor style computers, such as safc, unichip or greddy e-manage. I have a unichip and it runs great! removes the fuel cut and the speed limiter and offers decent flexibility in tuning. Andy W
from what i understand the power fc is the way to go but use a seperate boost controler not the plug in for the pfc Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/55518-where-can-i-get-an-r33-performance-chip/#findComment-1082634 Share on other sites
Anquetil
Toshi re-chips R33 ECU's. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/55518-where-can-i-get-an-r33-performance-chip/#findComment-1082690 Share on other sites
MarkG
Go for Greddy Emanage for piggy back, or yeah, if you want full stand alone, try Wolf or Power FC etc.. JULZA
Hey thanks, Got a mate with a rex who keeps bragging how good his car goes now that his had a chip installed. I dont want to go down the new cooler, new turbo or EMS road simply to save costs. I've got a R34 turbo on it with a 3" exhuast, BOV, and running about 7-10 psi boost. any suggestions for the next mod without spending too much cash? MarkG
If you up the boost, say more than 10-12psi - you'd wanna go new computer, well either full stand alone, or piggy back. I'd say your next mod really should be the intercooler..even if u dont wanna run new comp. Even if u got nice exhaust etc...I wouldn't up the boost with the stock ic. JULZA
Yeah I usually keep the boost to stock or around the 7-8 psi level. Cooler looks like the next option, but a costly mod. Kaido_RR
the r33 ecu is not chipable but that doesnt mean u cant get a chip that is and put it in the car. At the moment a workshop in perth is doing this and has great results so far total cost with z32 afm ($1400-1600) that is install and tune. not bad if u ask me Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/55518-where-can-i-get-an-r33-performance-chip/#findComment-1082912 Share on other sites
QuickR33Melb
Yeah I heard you went down to this phantom Rex (really a liberty RS) in a legal off road drag race on private property (old runway)?? IS that true Julza!! shame on you.. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/55518-where-can-i-get-an-r33-performance-chip/#findComment-1082914 Share on other sites
JULZA
Get off the net loser... If I spent half the money that has been pored into your engine I would have wiped you off the road. Mine is practically stock... Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/55518-where-can-i-get-an-r33-performance-chip/#findComment-1082919 Share on other sites
MarkG
I've done following to my R33 for now - getting ready for [CABIN '05] Hybrid FMIC. Walbro Fuel Pump. Greddy Oil Catch Can. Hybrid Short Shift. OBX FPR. Greddy EManage. Greddy ProfecB. Plus all the other interior bullshit , new kit, wheels, seats etc.. Revhead
You'd be amazed at the difference a FMIC makes. Even with the less-than-perfect pipework I have on mine, the difference in the midrange is surprising, and the top end has much more punch and doesn't get that wheezy feeling any more. To be honest I couldn't believe the difference. I've heard figures as high as 35rwkw can be gained by upgrading nothing but the cooler on a Skyline that already has the usual mods (exhaust, pod, bleed valve). The stocker is that much of a restriction. It makes me laugh when someone who's spent heaps on mods gets ****y about beating someone else who's spent next to nothing. Taken on any decent bikes lately? Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/55518-where-can-i-get-an-r33-performance-chip/#findComment-1083177 Share on other sites

raist60
hahahaha, well put Rev. Anyways, 13_devil 1600 bucks is really quite expensive for just a chip cook and an AFM, youd be better off getting a PowerFC i believe... unless im misunderstanding something Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/55518-where-can-i-get-an-r33-performance-chip/#findComment-1084528 Share on other sites
