I have been told by J-Spec that my car will be on the next ship (whenever that will be) and thats its "super high priority".

Be interesting to see how it turns out.

No offence, but I don't think it matters what priority J-spec assigns to it. It will ultimately come down to who is trying to get cars on the ship: if someone with a much larger account with shipping company needs the space they will bump smaller customers.

Still, I hope for your sake it gets on. :)

LW.

But it makes the customers feel so much better

:headspin:

Only until they find out their 'super-high-ultra-extreme-supreme' priority car got bumped again :)

Ultimately brokers should just tell it like it is: if they don't know, they should just say that. Nobody (that I can see) is blaming them for the situation: its just an unfortunate confluence of factors.

Very true. Ultimately the continuous incorrect and misleading flow of information from an importer results a total loss of confidence from the customer and of course is extremely bad publicity for a business.

If you want your car to go through container, its best to share 4-5 cars in a 40 feet container, that way, you only pay an extra of $200 plus per car but remember, containers leave Japan every week.

It is definitely not $1500 - $2000 more, UNLESS you plan to put your car only in a 10 foot container all by itself.

1vea74...

1. you need to get an extended height container to fit 4 cars in (ie 2 on top of the other 2)

2. no containers come divided into 2 levels... meaning you have to construct the platform yourself or pay someone to do it for you

3. platforms are usually made of wood... n lots of it. fumigation bill when landing the container?

4. cars on the top level have to be forklifted on as there's no way of driving them on... bye bye underbody.

5. if a car falls on top of the car underneath it (and it will if you've seen the shoddy platform jobs that these cars get). the ONLY way to get it off is by dragging it off, which means that

a) car on top gets damaged further

B) car at the bottom gets mutilated

Personally the only way that I'd ever do one of those is if I physically went over to japan and constructed the platform myself, and even then I'd make sure that it was bloody strong and not even an act of nature could make my car fall down.

Yeah i think the wait for any imported car is going out the door. I ordered my car back in March paid for it all then and thought yeah it will leave mid september since it was a October build car. Car has been booked on 3 boats already 24th of Sep, 13th of Oct and the 28th of Oct and all have been pushed off. But there is nothing you can really do, it is across the board.

Car is going thru prestige was informed it was going via NYK instead of Kiwi since it is coming to sydney but my r32 with rb25det + td06 turbo is still sitting in Kawaski so dunno how long it will be there for but yeah. I opted for NYK since it more respected company and comes to sydney but i think the delay might be longer

anyways hope everyone gets there car sooner or later

I am waiting on a 96 r33 spec 2... only paid for it last week... who knows when ill see it.

Importing has become a pain in the ass...this is the second and last car I will ever import.

Looks like the governments not so secret plan is working then huh?

Nil Illegitimatus Carborundum! (Don't let the Bastards grind you down)

who did you go through??

steve

he went through J-Spec. I'm curious to know what docks this was at as it will give a bit of an indication/confirmation of what is currently the situation with shipping.
