The trick is going to be showing some evidence the car was not damaged before it was delivered to Kiwi's holding yard in Japan.

And that quote from the KIPS page is exactly why my insurance wasn't paid out for the damage to my car and stolen items. The car had been in bonded storage for more than 30 days since it arrived and we couldn't prove when the damage or theft occurred. Plus, the car landed in Brisbane and I am in Sydney (and never expected the car to be in customs/bonded storage for so long).

neil_se, Do you have a customs broker who is taking care of clearance for you? He/she should be able to answer all your questions. My advice would be to pay all the GST, duties and other little fees and get your car our of there ASAP.

I just checked out my my R32gtst Type M. Some F#$%wit has keyed the paint work down both sides. Actually its more like a screw driver mark.

According to my importer (JDMBOYZ) there is a kiwi vessel which left Japan a few weeks back on its way to QLD now? Should of arrived in QLD on the 24th of feb, but may of been delayed a few days?

Thats the Haul Tramper which did arrive last week. I have a car that arrived on that vessel and Kiwi has already called me to confirm that the ship docked

I've got a customs agent but i'm still waiting to receive a call from them or their number from my import agent. When i asked my agent about when it's likely to be released, when i can see it, when i have to pay all charges, etc, all i received what a "i dunno". I'm getting a little sick of being underinformed.

It may take a while, my car landed on the 10th but I didnt get it till the 25th. Even though I paid for all my fees the day I got the bill.

Sometimes customs are so ****ing slow or the steam cleaners do a shit job and require a second clean.

Heres hoping no dodgy wharfies hurt the car or the ship sinks etc etc. Importing is a gamble. Nervous times ahead. Better make sure compliance shop has started on import approval. God knows theres enough delays between shipping companies, customs, wharfies, compliance shops without me making it worse.

Clearance took 2 weeks on the last import. Agent seemed a bit disorganised. Then compliance another 2 weeks on top. Thinking of getting hoist inspection done pre compliance just in case. Just have to figure out how to get car from wharves to mechanic.

tdawg & Tyler Durden: Dont think it only happens to you guys in Western Australia either, I paid for my car and it was booked on the first available vessle in November, and was ALREADY on the docks.. I still have not had confirmation on it being on a vessle. :)

And to re-iterate.. the importing does not suck, its the waiting that does :)

What fees are you guys been charged for Custom Brokers/Agents.

I was just quoted 250$ as there standard service fee.

gtr90 give your supplier a ring not broker, and just see what the outlook is like next month. Also ask him when the next RoRo ship is leaving. Then 2 weeks before to this give him a ring and ask him how it is going, then a week to go do the same thing. This sort of applies pressure on him, in a way where you’re in his mind of thought; he could pull a few strings. I know my dealer did this, pulled all favors to get my car on the boat, considering the car wouldn’t start. It needed a new fuel Pump, Tomei High Flow, and nearly $500 extra. But the point of the matter is that he got it to the docks, and through clearance, on Tuesday, the following day the ship was leaving port.

Ive considered importing for some time now " YOU SAVE A HEAP!!" But the wait seems to be a damn while.. Im in perth and It looks like Prestige has the best prices around.. can anyone offer any thoughts on whos the best for importing and what the average wait is at the moment?

    • Hey, guys, I’m hoping I can find answer here. I have already done some searching and asking around but still nothing.    I fitted an IC7 dash in my R32 GTR, and I got everything displaying on the dash except my high beams. I get input voltage and the high beams displaying in the dash when I pull the lever, but not when I fully engage the high beams. I spliced into the Red/Blue Beam+ wire in the black center connector from the cluster, but there is also a black Beam wire I think I need to use as well. The high beams still work. It’s just a matter of getting it to display on the dash.    Has anyone fully wired in their IC7 properly ? I would appreciate any guidance on this.    IMG_8835.mov

    • Sounds like it may all just be some baseless outrage stoked by the carexplore guy? As in the linked social media outrage on facebook just goes back to carexplore as a source again. Further shown by the council response that nothing actually has changed: "The Private Land Use Permit has been part of the Casey Community Local Law for a number of years. It's important to clarify that this permit is not new, and no changes have been made to the permit or the Local Law in relation to the permit." The full council response in Prank's link sounds reasonable to me. Saying that as someone who neither lives there nor has a front yard to call their own  
    • Clutch hydraulics are also all good, looks like a brand new slave cylinder and everything bled up well. No idea what the actual clutch is, and I don't intend to pull the box off on the floor to find out, so unless we have trouble on the dyno or at shakedown that will remain a mystery for the new owner
    • Front brakes are G4 8 pot calipers over 330mm discs with braided lines. Everything looks good, pretty sure these are off my old 350. Pads are brand new and judging from gold colour are Winmax which is what I also run on my race car, Neil and I both sourced brake stuff from Matty at Racebrakes Sydney who really knows his stuff Everything has bled up nicely with all new Motul RBF600 fluid, there were 2 loose hard line connections and the calipers were new on the car so I ended up doing it 3 times but it is perfect now
