Hiya guys,

Just got my 97 R33 S2 2 wks ago. Realli excited to have the car. Think it looks so sweet.. haha Pardon mi .. i guess most of u have been thru this stage.

Have some questions on how to mildly do up the car..

Moi ride comes with a muffler/cat back ?? no idea wat it is. But i noe it has a 'blast' written on it. (Anyone noes what kinda system is it ?) It has a 'impul' written somewhere on the exhuast too?

Was told by the dealer that the car is kitted with an implus kit (wat the heck is that ?)

As i have total limited knowledge in skylines, can anyone kinda guide mi on wat are the basic mods that can be done to the car? Did browse ard the forum and gather the following.

1. POD with CAI

2. dump pipe with cat back

3. FMIC

4. EBC

5. PFC with tunning

Anything i missed out? And how much do i have to set aside for all this mods?

Any workshops that i could go take a look and gather more about doin up the line.

Any advise is greatly appreciated.

Coming from someone that has gone from a similarly modded S2 R33, buy a pod #1 and dump pipe #2, then a computer like PFC or Wolf 3D #3. Once the car is breathing (through mods #1 & #2), you will notice a huge difference when you fit and tune the computer. If you go for something like the wolf, you get the ability to control boost as well or if you buy the PFC + boost kit, again, you've effectively got an EBC as well. The reason i suggest this order is that I didn't do it this way, i bought cooler and EBC and neglected a good tune and subsequently went through a $5K+ engine rebuild. For around the $2K mark installed and tuned for a PFC or Wolf, it's best money you'll spend, even if it doesn't net you big power, you'll have a safe tune!

Next mods would be intercooler, fuel pump, turbo, injectors, fuel reg, Z32 AFM, 1st mortgage, 1st car loan, bigger turbo again, plenum, Q45 throttle body, custom manifold, 2nd car loan, external wastegate, 2nd fuel pump, surge tank, bigger turbo again, bigger injectors again, third fuel pump, 2nd mortgage, 3rd car loan, 2 way LSD, MT tyres, drag suspension, carbon fibre body parts, roll cage, stripped car, PowerFC pro, AVC-R, 10 second quarters, 4th mortgage and still not happy, new car etc....

With my 97 series 2 I've done (in order) so far:

1. 3"+ Cat back exhaust

2. POD (for the sound....yeah..i know...)

3. Electronic Boost Controller (profec B spec2)

4. 3" Front pipe

5. Cold air box

6. Front mount intercooler

7. Sealed cold airbox with cold air feed

Currently at 184.2rwkw (Unique Autosports Dyno), but the curve gets weird up the top end.

Did all that in the space of 4 months or so... eek. It's a disease I tell ya.

The car already had tein adjustable coil overs, GTR front bar, and 18's.

next up PFC ;)

So my plans are to fix up a POD with CAI (From UAS? or is there other ways in getting a enclosed box for it). How is a POD compared to a pannel filter? In terms of airflow and of course the sound .. : ) Haa

Next up is the xhuast. But till now i still have no idea whether mine is a cat back or just a muffler?? ( whats the diff between them?)

And for the above how much would it set mi by about??

Yeah just do the minor mods as everyone else said (im not gooing to repeat the same thing again). When you are craving for more power go for the Turbo and Fuel injectors ;)

Easiest cold air box to get would be one from UAS. I fabricated my own out of sheet alluminium. Used a cardboard template, then cut the alluminium, bent it, etc etc etc... Took a whole day and some swearing :)

I made another one after I had the front mount installed cause in the first one I made I had cut holes out for the stock intercooler plumbing which ran underneath the pod.

I'm pretty sure everyone will say a K&N panel filter in the stock airbox is all you need to make power. Which is very true. But if you want the nice loud sucking noises, then a K&N pod is the way to go. I personally love induction noise (even on n/a cars) more than exhaust noise, so I bought a pod.

It's easy to tell if you've got a 3" dump pipe too. The stock one is tiny, and has a heat shield on it. If you've got an aftermarket one there will be no heatshield and it will be the same size as your exhaust (if you have a cat back exhaust).

Depends on who you go to.

Check www.nismo.com.au for retail prices. UAS do good work too, and have a nice setup which justify their prices somewhat.
