Vote 1 Team FIRETRUCK for Tuff Truck 2005

Hello SAU members,

I am writing this post to try and gain the support of the SAU community to get Team FIRETRUCK into the most hard core 4x4 competition in Australia.

Tuff Truck 2005 - http://www.tufftruck.com.au

The FIRETRUCK is a highly modified Jeep Wrangler designed to drive the tuffest terrain that can found.

The jeep and is owned by my best mate Shane and I will be his trusty co-driver.

I realise this is not a skyline or performance street car but I am sure there are some people on here interested in four wheel drives, and any motorsport enthusiants would be well advised to check out this growing new sport.

Entry into the event is based on 'popular vote'... so you nominate yourself, but then to compete you have to be in the top 30 as voted by the public.

You can only vote by buying 4x4 AUSTRALIA magazines and sending in the official voting form from the magazine.

The voting will only be over the next few months, and of course there is only 1 voting form per magazine.

So get to it! Don't leave it till the last minute.

The first of the voting forms is on page 22 of this month's edition (December edition).

If you only buy 3 magazines this year, make them this one... and get your votes in.

Each form has room for to vote for 3 teams.

Here is how I would recommend you to vote:

Vote 1. Team #6, Team FIRETRUCK

Vote 2. Team #2, Cheezy Racing

Vote 3. Team #12, Team Suburban

For the number 2 and 3 spots feel free to pick other teams that you like from the web site if you prefer.

More info on the event, when, where, and the competitors is here:

http://www.tufftruck.com.au/

The event is well sponsored and there are some pretty significant cash (and other) prizes on offer.

There will also be plenty of camera crews and photographers on hand and there will be a DVD of the event available sometime after the dust has settled, as well as a special edition magazine.

Keep an eye on the news stands as there will be articles in other 4x4 magazines in the coming months on the FIRETRUCK - I will circulate a message when these things pop up.

Also, check out television channel 31 in Victoria every Thursday night at 7:00pm for 4wd TV. There has already been an interview and feature on the FIRETRUCK aired and we are expected to have another feature as soon as we can get the cameras out to our hardcore testing area. (In Brisbane 4wd TV airs Tuesday nights at 8:30pm on channel Briz31).

Your support in helping us push the FIRETRUCK to the absolute limits is very much appreciated.

Feel free to forward this message to your friends, family, pets, etc.

Oh, and if there are any crazy corporate folk out there looking for a Jeep to sponsor in a high profile event, please send cash (or send Shane an email)!!

Regards,

Shane and Zach

(Team FIRETRUCK).

Hey,

what competition exprience you have up to date?

This Jeep looks mean compared to 2001 or 2002 TTC winner...

i'll get on with the votes as soon as possible and i might go up there to catch all the action

Cheers

Hi Dreamer,

Competition experience to date is none ;)

4wd experience to date is loads and loads on the hardest tracks and areas we can find in victoria.

Our first competition is actually Woodpecker that is on the 28th November, couple of ours north west of Sydney. Check this site out if you want to see that one: http://www.orp.com.au/Wood%20Pecker%20Chal...enge%20Info.htm

Video of last years Woodpecker event: http://www.orp.com.au/Untitled.wmv

The 2001 and 2002 winners trucks are very very good.

However the jeep my mate has built is on virtually even footing.

They all have their strengths and weaknesses and it will come down to the event to see how we go.

Definitely make an effort to get to Tufftruck as it will be huge

Thanks for the support.

Hey z,

what is the Jeep's RTI (Ramp Travel Index for these wondering)?

Cheers

These are the ramp scores from something a month ago.

20 degree - 1634

23 degree - 1430

30 degree - 1117

They will be better than that by the time tufftruck comes around as we will be tweaking things a lot before then.

cheers

z
