I used to come into here to find what people had tried and what was needed to run to get 'x' power so might help some looking to push rb25 and a real world example

Comparison between old GTX3076 0.82 with spitfires and std CAS  vs GTX3582 Gen ll 0.82 with Audi R8 coils and new CAS

This is for circuit car  - anything else I think the (new or old) GTX 3076 is pretty solid for 450 to high 500hp's

Done on a roller :

Old GTX 3076 0.82 setup on 24.5 psi - 550hp and 620nm   - was awesome overall - good response - noses over at 7K

New GTX3582 gen ll 0.82   on 23 psi - 570hp

on 26 psi 663.5hp and 700nm - havent driven it yet but woke up with psi and wanted to keep making powas

Relevant things:

Rb25 built

Poncams

Audi R8 coils

New CAS

6 Boost

Bosch 1600 cc Injectiors

Plasmaman plenum

Koyo Rad

PWR 500 x 300 intercooler 2" piping

3" straight through exh

45 Ext gate to screamer

GTX3582 0.82 Gen ll

PPG 5 speed dog box

Got my car tuned finally by DVS JEZ after having some issues with "less competent" tuners in Canberra.  I know my setup is not ideal (return-flow) but was hesitant to spend money on restrictive parts if i needed to spend money first on fundamental running issues.

Setup is as follows:

R32 Nistune ECU

EFI solutions Top fuel rail kit,  stock FPR with Bosch 0 280 157 187 495cc Injectors

Bosch Z32 AFM

3" Turbo back (bellmouth, port matched) 3" 100 cel 4" body Venom cat, straight through mufflers

Hypergear G2 21U Highflow

Greddy Profec OLED EBC

Custom Hard 3" intake pipe joining to stock Airbox, Return Bov

Return flow AVO Turboworld intercooler

R32 10psi actuator pre-loaded 3mm

GTR BOV

NPC clutch

SPlitfire coilpacks

Standard Walbro 255 with the wiring mod.

Overall result is pretty good but quoted from Jez couldn't get more out of it "too prone to detonation", note the 230kw run was abandoned. so running 223Kw on 16psi

Now i know its running right i am looking to buy a new intercooler either HDI or Plazmaman and the 5" body 100cel 3" cat and then getting the tune tidied up a bit.

My initial goal was to make the most responsive setup compared to stock turbo running 98 and airbox (hate the sound of pod filter) hence g2 profile choice. Can see my old tune in second pic of stock turbo and breathing mods.

Tao what do you think of the result? Besides changing the above (intercooler and cat)  and staying on 98 and an airbox (happy to modify it), is there anything else i can do to increase response/boost response.

Kind regards

Patrick

Sorry put the question on the wrong thread, posted on hypergears

  • 1 month later...

whats going on hoons? long time reader first time poster - here is a basic set up that has pulled in some decent rewards, got me a 2 mins at PI and a 1:47 at winton in full daily drive trim and horrible old clapped out semi slicks

highly recommend adaptronic, advice and turbos from Tao, tunes by chequered

donk: a not tired RB25 S2, 128,000 km, healthy comp, stock internals

hypergear something turbo G03 rings a bell
adaptronic
deuchwerks 550 side feeds
a shitty TURN FLOW
stock filter box with a K+N panel
a good greddy exhaust, was on it when i got the car, looks like a beauty (3 inch)
a f__king mad catch can rraaahahhhhh

260 kw at 16 psi, not pushing it

that is a good outcome folks
and if you are gonna persevere with a turnflow - make sure you have a real strong actuator spring

You need to adjust your dyno read out or are these super low torque?

Those torque figures are actually correct as it has been derived off the RPM.

Most dyno operators don't bother setting up the derived torque value and just output roller torque on dyno sheets hence it shows higher numbers.

Power (kW) = Torque (N.m) x Speed (RPM) / 9.5488

Ie

Torque (N.m) = Power (kW) * 9.5488 / Speed (RPM)

If you're reading wheel RPM instead of engine RPM your torque values will be higher.

    • God I love shiny engine parts 🥰 Are you looking for more horsetorques in the mid range? (Smaller cam) Or just more horsetorques every where? (Big heads and bigger revs) Assumption: they were not bought late night shopping on the interwebs after drinking too many beers, which is typically how I pull pins on things......🤣 The evolution of your car is coming along nicely, I sometimes wish I didn't get bored with my cars and keep flipping them, maybe the MX5 will be different
    • I got the hazards working! Turned out it was disconnected! Indicator stock still isn’t working. I took the steering shroud off and there seems to be a third connection missing I see two small white connectors but they don’t fit the indicator switch unless they need a short lead to convert the connector type. Can someone point me in the direction of the wiring diagram for the indicator switch?   https://share.icloud.com/photos/0e8ReiFSLBVJsTPUKKfA_1IdQ
    • All of your suspension bushes/bolts etc, should also only ever be tightened when the car is sitting with full weight too.   IE, jack it back up, shove a heap of stuff down so you can lower the wheels onto so the car is "on the ground" but you have room to get under it.   It's why when properly done, you should be able to remove the shock and spring, but the arms won't go to 100% droop. If you don't do the above, you'll destroy your bushes.
