What's with grilling our sponsors?

I can understand people want to ask questions, but questioning the prices, warranty and going "I can get them cheaper" I don't think is really too much in the spirit of having a sponsor onboard, who is trying to just run their own business (with whatever associated costs they do have).

Just think its a little rude, and not really encouraging for any other sponsors wanting to commit and putting in an effort for this sort of thing, which in the end benefits the site.

regardless of being a sponsor, aren't people allowed to heckle with businesses to get a good price? surely they must be used to it if they run a business, and also we're not doing our patrons any favours by censoring their dealings with a sponsor.

I replied on that thread too, I can get em cheaper off one of Apexi's distributors in Japan, but I didn't like the warranty terms. I didn't tell him that I could get em cheaper as it wasn't gonna help with anything, but it seems others are clearly more concerned over price than over warranties etc.

Personally I think its a necessary evil: potential customers should be allowed to ask reasonable questions regarding goods available from sellers. Obviously some people are going to abuse that power, but I think its probably easier for moderators to just issue a warning for those particular cases rather than forcing everyone to suffer the consequences of the actions of a few.

Not that its any excuse, but I think most retailers have fairly thick skins anyway

I'm with Pred on this one... General queries about price, warranty, availability, application, etc. are fine in my book... But opening up a whoopass cannister when you don't agree with the sponsors reply to a question is out IMO...

Dan's a good bloke, trying his hardest to make it in a difficult business... I reckon we should support him as best we can...

Best practice here would be to moderate the posts.

There is always going to be competition in business, its in the forums best interests to protect their assets (in this case sponsors), no matter what the positioning of the business is, I'd say for the business, Dans, they'd except no less.

I think post moderation is better than pre-moderation... we've trialled it before on other parts of the forums, and people always get the shits when they can't see what they just posted.
