Credit Cards:

Some people expressed a preference to pay by credit card; others said they could only pay by credit card.

Unfortunately Brent cannot accept credit cards for this group buy. For those of you who only had a preference, I hope you can still continue; for those who had to pay by credit card, I am truely sorry.

There is one further option, which is going to your bank and withdrawing money on your credit card over the counter (I believe this is normally called a 'cash advance'). Obviously its a PITA to have to visit the bank, but its an option. I believe such transactions then just work as if you had purchased something normally with your credit card, but please check that with your bank as there may be additional charges or different interest rates.

Brent can, however, accept PayPal transfers (which can be charged directly to your credit card). Such transfers attract a 4% surcharge (basically, PayPal takes 4% of the transfer hence the need to add it back in).

Payment:

There was some doubt how the payments would work. I can confirm now that you will pay straight into a Nengun's Australian account. There was the option of me collecting all the funds, but I think some people would have significant issues with trusting a complete stranger.

Payment will be expect on Friday 26 November. The absolute cutoff for Nengun to recieve payment (not just make it, but for it to go through) is Wednesday 1 December.

This gives people the better part of four full working days for payments to go through. Please try and make your payments as early as possible to minimise delays and so any problems can be worked out ASAP.

If you think you will have a problem with these dates, please let me know ASAP so we can work through the issue.

Methods of Payment:

There will be three main methods of payment from what people have been saying: 1) Over the counter desposits; 2) Internet banking transfers; 3) Paypal.

Nengun banks with ANZ. The fastest method of payment is to withdraw funds from your account, visit an ANZ branch, and make the deposit over the counter: such transfers are instantaneous. Make sure you fillout the deposit slip completely -- especially your name -- and get a receipt for the desposit.

Netbanking transfers (between banks) usually take 24-48 hours, so keep that in mind and try to put them through on Friday. If you also bank with ANZ, the transfer should go through very quickly (often near instantaneously, but sometimes it can take an hour or two to show up). Take a screenshot of the confirmation of payment.

PayPal transfer should be near instantaneous.

Payment Details:

Payment details -- that is, Nengun's account details and a finalised proce -- will be provided by Nengun after they have recieved orders: most likely Friday. I will post the details in the thread as soon as I recieve them. I will also PM everyone with the details, and send emails out.

If anyone specifically wants to be contacted by phone with the details, I can do that too as long as their isn't too many people  You can, of course, ring me too. I will have Friday off so I will be around and easily contactable.

Regardless, the details will be readily available.

As the exchange rate is likely to fluctuate slightly between the placing of orders (Friday) and the final day for payment (Wednesday), and Nengun being able to transfer funds to Japan, a very small amount (no more than $1-2) will be added to the price to account for said deviations: for example, if on Friday the final price is $988.00, it might be rounded to $990. I hope nobody objects to that? It means we can keep the payment window open for longer so people don't have to rush around on Friday to pay if they have work commitments.

If you honestly feel that's not acceptable, let me know.

Delivery:

People are obviously interest to know exactly when they can expect the goods. As I have stated in a couple of posts and PMs, I (personally; since its not me sending the goods) cannot give you an iron-clad date. Factors that will influence delivery dates include: the speed of payment; availability from Nengun's supplier; how quickly the supplier gets the units to Brent, and if there are any delays in postage times due to the Christmas mail load.

As I mentioned in the PM I sent out, once Brent gets the orders, he can provide a much more definate idea of when units will arrive. From reading other people's experiences of buying PowerFC's from Nengun, delivery time is usually about 1-3 weeks.

Boost Controllers:

I had a couple of people ask about boost controllers. I checked with Brent and he does not want to include them as part of this group buy as it will just get extremely difficult to keep track of different payment amounts and who gets what combination of goods.

If its any consolation, the PFC boost controller is not fantastic anyway IMHO: there are better products on the market for about the same price. Its only real advantage is integration, and that not that big a benefit anyway. I suggest you search these forums if you are interested in this issue.

Futher Price Discounts:

Yet other people wanted me to see if there were further discounts to be had; I promised I would ask, and I did. Basically the answer is no: Brent can't cut his margin anymore unless we reach 30 confirmed orders in which case the price falls about $10-15 per unit.

Again, this is about a 10% (and greater in some cases) discount on what is already the lowest price point in the market. I honestly don't think Brent is holding back on us.

Tuning:

Once you have your new PowerFC, you will probably want someone to tune it.

For those in NSW, Ruf Performance in Ingleburn have very kindly offered a deal for people in this group buy: they will tune your PFC/car from this groupbuy for $450 (normally $650). This only applies to people in this group buy.

If you are interested, contact [email protected] or 9605 3477 (ask for Kristof).

got your PM about it lucien, I can't atm as my money's committed to the AE86 restoration/modification. I'll let people know though.

I'd like to add that $987.75 including shipping is an absolute bargain, and is below the cost I was looking at for getting a new unit direct from japanese suppliers. Add to this the warranties offered, I'd almost be tempted to take a loan to get one lol.

Would GST be added on top of that ?

I emailed to double check this -- seemingly to Brent's annoyance -- and here's his answer:

I think I have pretty well "explicitly" explained everything. I even gave you the tax code. There is NO DUTY on PFC`s and H/C`s It is the law that GST will have to be paid. But by sending them to individual addresses usually they go straight to your door without any hassle.

Lucien.

He does seem rude, but the price is right.

Put me down for one to suit R33 S1 GTS-25t.

How much extra for the boost controller add-on? How does the boost controller add-on actually work? Where do you position it? It is all controlled through the hand controller, yes?

Oh and try posting this on a few other forums, inc. Nissan Silvia, etc.

snip

Your added.

Re: the boost-controller, as I only a few people would want one at best, I guess the price would be the standard one listed on Nengun's site (¥30,500.00). It can be adjusted through the hand controller; as for installation, you best do a search.

I have already posted at SDU. I will post it on NissanSilvia when I have a second

Lucien.

We're going to need to post on every automotive forum in Australia to find 20 people in one week who are both interested and funded. And if you start joining new forums, who's going to trust you enough to send you $1000.00?

Or we could buy them all Lucien, and then pawn them off on eBay.

Oh, and I can post the offer on NissanSilvia if you'd like. Or are you a member there already? I don't think I've seen you there.

P1E: I thought I had joined N.S., but obviously not. If your happy to post it up that would be great.

I agree its a bit hopefull, but no harm in trying. At the end of the day I still need one and if I (and others) can save some cash, so be it.

Lucien.

i mite have missed it but to they come with the warenty??

if so i am in %100!!! this is very cheap you would be silly to pass it up.

regards, jonathan

P.S i am a bit iffy about just throwing 1000 into someones acount without knowing them, what sort of insurance to we have that we are going to get the product? and what is stoping them just runnning away with the money??

sorry guys just never done this befor, always buy local.

Hi,

PowerFC's are apparently covered by a worldwide 12 month warranty: if you have any doubts, I suggest you check with Nengun.

As for your concerns about sending money, that's certainly understandable. Like any business, Nengun has had some good and bad 'press', but if you do a search of these forums I think you will find the majority of people are happy with Nengun's service.

Having said all that, are you still interested, and if so, for what vehicle?

Lucien.

Seems that this guy is quite ready to suggest that GST can be avoided and is therefore, encouraging you all to break the law.

Adrian

    • Hi everyone, I've been wrestling with this for a while now and have been trying to find out the cause. For context, the turbos used are Garrett 2860 -5s, the BOV is a BNR32 HKS SSQV IV kit, the car is currently tuned to ~470 whp on 17.5 psi. The car drives normally, pulls well when it doesn't happen, and I can replicate it fairly easily. It does not sound like turbo shuffle or flutter. The engine has only a thousand or so miles and has had this behavior since it was completed. After my engine was built for my R32 GTR, I noticed that the car now sometimes makes an air discharge sound on what appears to be positive boost pressure that sounds really similar to a BOV. I had thought that it was a BOV issue but even when replacing it with a brand new unit, the sound persisted. It seems like it's coming from the passenger side but I may be mistaken. The closest scenario I could find was this post here https://www.gtr.co.uk/threads/maybe-a-boost-leak-opinions.147955/https://www.gtr.co.uk/threads/maybe-a-boost-leak-opinions.147955/ started by @yakshii and it sounds very similar. As in, at partial throttle once I reach positive boost I begin to hear the same psh psh psh psh psh sound like air is leaking somewhere when I keep the throttle in the same position. It most commonly happens in 4th gear at around 3-3.5k RPM and 5th gear around 2.5-3k RPM, which seems to coincide with normal positive boost thresholds. It might be similar to what @Austrian GTR mentioned about his own HKS SSQV. Notable difference would be that when he applies more throttle when it happens, it stops. In my scenario if I apply more throttle during this repeated psh psh psh sound, the cadence of the sound gets faster and louder rather than stopping. If I lift off slightly and apply throttle again, it will normally stop and pull without issue. I've checked all rubber couplers to ensure that they are tight, but have not gotten the opportunity to properly do a pressurized boost leak test. If anyone has had similar experiences or thoughts on what might be the cause, I'd be very keen to hear them. I also have a video of it happening from inside the cabin, if that would make it easier to understand: https://youtu.be/2zqZXcx8jbA
    • I'd want at least $40K for mine, but thats easy to say cos I'm not selling anyway.
    • That's incorrect. We have 4 seasons, consisting of pre winter, winter, post winter and a small glimpse of hope!
