Hi all,

sorry if it's been covered, i've tried a search and couldn't find anything.

Just wondering if your doing a twin cam head swap onto a standard rb30e, would the R31 skyline motor be just as suitable as the VL rb30e?

Are they the same internally and externally?

I just needed to know if the r31 skyline bottom end had the same piston's, compression ratio, integrity and strength as the standard vl rb30e?

Any info or help would be appreciated.

Cheers.

there the same engine ... in every way far as i know.

i doubt there will be any differences in the standard bottom end coz one came out in a holden and the other in a nissan. although i;d be more bais towards a skyline one as most VL would have the arseholes rev'd out of em by some chop in springvale or st albans.

Matt

Thanks for the responses guys,

i've actually got a r31 skyline rb30e, but i just needed to know if one motor had more power/strength integrity over the other from factory.

I'm sure i read somewhere that the thread for the heater water lines at the back were different between the two?

Cheers.

no diff.. unless u get a VLT bottom end...

R31 blocks are all the same.. the s1 VL blocks don't have all the required oil and water points (have to tap them out).

If I was Nissan at the time I would have been sending Holden all the ones that slightly failed QA :) but who knows whether that ever happened.
